Young Horse Grooming me

Yes but they can get very upset if they nip you and you tell them off, because they thought they were being nice, so I tend not to let them.

All the time as my 3 yo is super itchy and looks nothing more than riffing me whilst I am riffing him. Although as he is 17.1hh gets a bit rough at times. Bottom is the favourite spot as is just behind the girth area. And no he hasn't got passengers. Always been a hot horse and loves to be groomed as hard as poss

Yeah my filly used to try groom me all the time, she just wanted me to groom her really and as soon as I gave her the smallest scratch she would try groom my head but she was too rough and I had to put a gentle stop to it.

Scooby does if you scratch him in the right place - I don't mind because he only fumbles me with his lips, never uses his teeth. I like doing it because he's got very few horse-friends (most of the herd bully him if he goes near them) so I like to be his friend.

All three of mine will groom you, if you groom them.
I let them but have taught them to be very careful/gentle though, by immediately saying 'no' and moving away if they got too rough.
My three are all mares though, and less inclined to be nippy than colts/geldings/stallions.

My youngster will try, but i do have to be careful as he can sometimes get a little carried away.

Our broodmare on the other hand will just groom you with her top lip so we let her if she wants to

Mine will try to groom me if I'm scratching his itchy spots. He's just being polite, and is never rough, so I let him. If he can't reach me, he'll sometimes groom the wall intead!

If I scratch his withers, he tends to back up. I first thought it was because maybe he didn't want me scratching him just then, but once I waited to see what he would do...and he was backing up just so he could reach my shoulder to return the favour!

Monty licks my back when i am doing up the front of his rug and when i pick his front feet out. Doesn't use his teeth so it doesn't bother me. I do have to stand with him when the farrier comes though as he then wants to lick his back too

My youngster also tries to groom and pick me up by my belt on either my jods or jeans when picking out front tootises so that isn't aceptable, neither is pulling my toggle tight and pinging the elastic on my fleece as hard as he can and letting go on my bare skin.

My gelding was the NICEST horse to be groomed by, he was very gentle and used to groom for hours! Lucky is rough and uses her teeth a lot!!

My Big lad loves to groom you, if I stand face on to him he puts his head over my shoulder and i itch his whithers he will then rub the base of my back with his lips. He is very gentle and never nips the only problem is you can’t always escape because he has you pinned to his chest and once you start he never wants you to stop, bless him.

My Dottie baby always wiffles me to see if I will do it back. I am cautious that I stay consistant with how nicely she does it. If she does it too hard she gets a mini poke and a NO and I stop.

The only problem is that she is constantly asking at the moment where Im trying to muck out!!!

The other funny thing is my 4yo TB will groom me back if I do her, but neither of them will groom each other!!! I stand them together and try to get them going but the TB thinks my yearling is trying to bite her so tells her off and runs off!!!

Stupid horses!!!!
