Hi Guys ! can anyone give me any tips.
My young horse who is great in all respects has started to literally shoot off when she hears horses coming behind her. This doesnt happen in the school, only out on fun rides / farm rides where we all know some people cant help but gallop past !
I can appreciate its a baby thing but is there anything i could do to either help her stop this or to get her used to it??
Many thanks in advance x

I would first of all make sure the basics are in place in the school - ie she will halt, walk on when asked and pay attention and respect you. Perhaps then, you need to practice riding with others, first in the school and then when you and you horse are confident go out with a couple of sensible riders and change the order of who goes first, middle, last etc throughout the ride until she feels settled and happy wherever she is. Personally I wouldn't risk going on large pleasure rides etc until you and she are confident and in more control. You do get compete idiots on these rides - it's a shame because the majority are genrally very polite!
