Thankies...
I will be as happy as a jumping bean on speed if he goes clear but to be honest as long as he tries, if he comes away having a pole I will still be as pleased as punch!
I will, i'm a nervous wreck about it! I think 1.05 is quite big for 4yos, we are leaving the 5, 6 & 7yos at home, because I like to bring mine on slowly and try not to overly do it as youngsters but as I want to keep him entire I am feeling the pressure to push him more than I would usually push a youngster, usually I wouldn't dream of having a 4yo jumping any bigger than some BNs at this stage but he is quite special in my eyes (they always are when you have bred them yourself) and he is jumping Discovery comfortably so its only another hole. We feel like David and Goliath going to it, are little homebred stallion ridden by my unknown amateur against the professionals
Cool, I want to come and watch him, everytime I keep thinking I must go and see how Teddy is doing, something cataclysmic happens! So I may just turn up without notice if I get a quiet moment and hope it isn't inconvenient as everytime I plan to do something atm, some diaster happens!
I will register him BSJA after he has done some Dressage comps (I am trying to wait to get the grading out the way then it hopefully won't hit my pocket so hard if he passes
I agree with you on this subject. We did the four old BSJA assesment at towerlands last oct, there was no one checking breeding papers and although the rules stated 1 round at 1.05, those who jumped clear were then informed they would be assessed again in the jump off, fences went to 1.15.
My boy did not cope with that and was retired. If the bsja make these rules they should stick by them. This year we have to jump 1.15 as a five year old in the first round. My argument is that not all these horses are mature enough to cope with this and may not come into themselves until 7 or 8.
The original bsja guidelines on stallions was for health & safety
reasons but after witnessing the behaviour at last years assesment this was a joke.
I have had to do more than i would really want to do with a big (17hh) 5 yr old already pushing to jump newcomers. I know of other people in this situation as well. I for one cannot afford £1000 to register in 2008 should the judges not like us in october. My torture is do i have my very nice, very well behaved boy gelded? perhaps we should start a petition.
Good luck next week
