My youngster has started over reaching out in the field a bit. He has only caused two small bits of hair loss (one each side) but i was wondering if its possible to turn out in over reach boots?
Also is it possible he will outgrow doing this? he has gone very gangly at the moment and doesn't have complete control of his legs lol
If it carries on will it cause problems?

I turned out my young horse in overreach boots all the time as a 3/4 year old. He was so long legged and so clumsy I had to. I also now turn out my TB in over reach as he has a tendency to mess around and step on his own shoes - I also put them on his hind feet as one of his field friends manages to step on his hind shoes so they save those being pulled off too. I tend to use the cheap rubber with velcro boots in teh field as i know they will simply break if they should get caught

Brillaint thank you

Do they rub at all? Its just at the moment my 2yr old is out 24/7 and i was worried they might irratate him?

When my ex racehorse arrived he overreached and brushed his legs together. He has field turnout boots which went round his hooves and round his legs, a bit like travel boots but a better shape for them to go charging about the field, overreach boots started to cause rubs on the back of his heels. With work and feed after 8 months he outgrew overreaching and brushing altogether
