Posting on behalf of a friend who's ended up with a one year old lurcher bitch. Long story, but friend took her in when her owner couldn't keep her (health issues). She's had her for about four months and did wonder about keeping her, but friend isn't experienced with these dogs and whilst she has two other dogs of her own, this one isn't gelling.

I've met the dog a number of times and I think she's lovely. Very cuddly and loves attention. Unfortunately there's no way she'd fit in here with the other dogs, as she's not so keen on other dogs, and we have a cat.

Anyone have suggestions as to the best place to approach about rehoming her? Friend has been researching, but is wary of getting it wrong and the dog being passed from pillar to post or worse.

She's on the smaller side (with ridiculously long legs!).

Okay with other dogs, other than not listening to them if she goes too far in play. She's not had the training though she does seem to learn reasonably quickly. A bit wimpy. Doesn't like being on the lead. Housetrained. Crate trained. Chews if left on her own and out of the crate (doesn't chew anything in the crate).

Oh is there another HHO rehome in the offing...?

Maybe! we keep talking about maybe getting another one. Floyds 3 and still very playful whereas Dylan is 9 and while hes still active hes just not that interested in playing for hours. Everyone is so happy and settled here that I worry about upsetting them, but I also worry about how Floydy will cope as Dylan ages and doesnt want to be knocked about and play rough games.

can you spay a bitch before her first season or is it best to wait? I am very, very out of the loop with regards to girl dogs!

After thinking about it and talking to my OH, shes coming to live with us 😁 😁

That’s fantastic! She’s totally gorgeous what is her name?

Shes called Lola. We've been talking about another one on and off for a while but never actually done anything other than look at ads sometimes. Floyds 3 and Dylans 9 so its about the right sort of time for another one. I didnt want a puppy again really and just thought I'd see what happened, and when I saw the post, I thought I'd just ask about her, just in case, and the rest is history!

As she's a year old now and presumably not had her first season yet it's probably best to wait until after she's had one as it's best done half way between seasons. Good luck with her she looks lovely.
