Young man at 11 months

**cough** No! **cough**
You're talking to the person who did a happy dance behind the van when B beat a Doberman by 11 points in a basic tracking qualification :o :o :o

Now that I would pay good money to see !:D I still think he is a BS x BC;). Growing up we had a GSD X BC and he ( apart from collie ears)looked more like a GSD than Floofy . He is looking great , well done you .

He looks like he's having a great time in the white stuff (so random that a lot of places have it and yet we've only had one frost this winter where I am,temps in double figures only last week as well!!).I love the nickname and he certainly is floofy!!

Just being nosy, but is he pure GSD and all over black?? Apologies if he is more black and tan and my eyes are rubbish lol,but looks black in pics to me??
Is that usual to be so dark or quite a rare breed trait?? I was brought up with GSD'S,but they were of the black and tan variety and a long haired one was the closest to rare we ever had (actually considered undesirable as I understand it although could have remembered that wrong was a long time ago!!) so just curious about your lad and his looks, feel free to tell me to mind my own though:o

I'm sure CC will reply but yes Floofy is pure GSD and very well bred. You are right black is not such a common colour but there are far more in the working lines, which is what Floofy is bred from. You also remember correctly , long coats used to be considered undesirable although there were always plenty about, breeders used to just sell them cheaply. Nowadays there are actually classes for long coats with a correct undercoat, and there are some excellent specimens about. Unfortunately there are also some unscrupulous breeders who sell long coats (and non recognised colours such as blues and livers) at ridiculously inflated prices.

Hallo :D

Second in handsomest male and fourth in cutest pup, he was a wee star, was great socialisation, was super with the other dogs (even the couple who gobbed off at him :p) and was great practise for focus training, didn't bat an eyelid at the horses (was at an EC). He is such a social wee thing.
Took him up the training field for a ball chuck on the way home and he is now brown :o

To answer your questions :p

Yes, he is purebred GSD, longhaired and black.
As mentioned, greys and blacks tend to come from working lines these days.

Here is his father

I will hunt around for a pic of his mother. They are both short-coated.
Here is his litter brother, who has his mother's colouring.

The reason I have him is because his previous owner did not want a long coat and TBH, when he has slid about like a lunatic in the mud, I can understand why :o :o :o
