Youngster planting feet... Won't budge.

Found this post very interesting. Henna is a mule too. When we moved them home a week ago friend had Her Mum and Pal and I had her (7 month Filly). When grass turned to concrete despite having just come off concrete onto grass 30 seconds earlier little sweetie pie decided to plant. Watching her Mum walk off into the sunset despite having never let her out of her sight in her entire life didn't even budge her !!

Friend took her Mum and bestest buddy back to our place and came back for me and she still hadn't budged. I did zig zag, backwards, turning circles all to no avail. Friend employed large bristle yard broom and after a few delicate bristle up bum moments legs and brain engaged and she walked home a treat. I am dreading breaking she has Iron will power so we could be in for a few long stand offs :D

I will follow your progress eagerly to pick up all the tips I can :D

Well this morning was better... just a couple of pauses but no foot planting :)

I just employed a more business like manner with him - hard work at 7am but guess I better get used to it! and carried a schooling whip with me to give him a tap behind the knee (when rugged it's about as much use as a chocolate teapot elsewhere on his body)... I'm going to do another session with him tonight and tomorrow night on top of a businesslike turnout each day and then I'm away til Sunday, so we'll see how we go. I will ask my Dad to be firm with him while I'm away but my dad is such a softy, his 'firm' is somewhat soft and squidgy!

Thanks for all the tips and advice but above all making me realise I'm not alone!!
