When ready to tack up again use a roller and use a girth with elastic in both end, this way if she tenses and blows out it will give with her . Good luck
Isn't there a nerve that runs under the girth area that on some horses is closer to the surface and therefore far more sensitive ?
I also made sure I had a saddle fitted and adjusted specifically to my 3 yr old before I even considered putting a saddle on her and girthing it up. I think horses are a lot more sensitive than they are given credit for and a narrow saddle will pinch when girthed and IMO could well cause an sensitive pony to explode.
I hope you manage to get her back on track and agree a cub saddle with velcro on pads underneath or a bareback pad may be a good way forwards.
