Noticed this morning that my 2yr has knocked one of her front teeth so that it has twisted round and is sticking out slightly.

I know they lose their teeth at some point soon, so wondering whether this is the beginnings of her losing the tooth, or whether she's actually banged herself/damaged it.

The gum isn't inflamed at all.

Should I worry?

Thanks

Well, if its the front teeth. (By the front I mean 101/201)She should shed them at 2 1/2 (should) However, if she is only just 2, the teeth are still a big green to come out. So I would say, get someone out to look at her to assess whether it needs to be pulled. Because you could end up with a deformed permanent if the affected tooth disrupts the growing bud.

Hope that helps.

Thanks casey2312 . The mare is 2 1/2yrs old. Think I might take her to see the vets then. She quids quite badly and her cheeks often look swollen so I gather there's lots of movement in the teethy department.

Your welcome. Best get it pulled then if she is the right age. They can do a good float at the same time. That may help with the quidding. She could be feed packing around the sharp edges, hence the cheeks looking puffy.
Good luck.

My two and a half year old is loosing his caps at the moment, bless him he is finding very difficult to eat, the vet had to pull one off a couple of weeks ago, because it was getting in the way and causing him some pain.
If its the front i think i would get it checked out to be on the safe side

One of Chancer's front teeth did this at 2 12 and fell out shortly afterwards.

Lots going on at the moment in the mouth department. I have my little chap's teeth checked every six months by the dentist to make sure all is going well. I have done this since he was 18 months - and he had some sharp edges even then.

He is now 3 1/2 and still chewing everything he can get his teeth on and goes through stages of being very mouthy and his teeth change. He has also lost one wolf tooth - some horses have their wolf teeth pushed out by the adult teeth.

Thank goodness. Noticed exactly the same with my 2 1/2 year old last week and despite being reassured by someone very experienced that it is normal and not to worry, I still was! Have the dentist coming next week just to check up on her but glad it will come out shortly.

My filly wants to chew and nuzzle everything in sight, including me! Will take her to the vets to be looked at just to make sure all's going well with the chompers!
