Your best ebay/second hand horsey bargain?

I'm waiting anxiously for my bargain to arrive - a Jeffries Elite dressage saddle, which I bought on Ebay for just over £200 (having sold my Wintec Isabell for £250). If it doesn't fit Alf, it'll be an easy one to sell on - it's a beautiful saddle, and it's in really good nick. I keep checking the online tracking - it's currently in their Reading depot, and should arrive today!

When I was 11, we bought a trailer off a local family whose daughter was giving up riding. When we went to collect it, the owner asked if we needed any rugs or stuff as they were getting rid of everything. It turned out mine and the girls ponies were the same size in rugs and he said they had loads that they were going to sell. They then proceed to take us outside where their whole lawn was just about filled with everything you could imagine. Rugs, tack, bandages, boots, saddecloths... the list goes on. The bloke than said that we could have the lot for £40. There must have been several hundred pounds worth of stuff there. Total bargain, I used that stuff for years and years and was often finding things I didn't even know I had. My tack room became a complete treasure trove of stuff.
I regularly drive past that house we bought the trailer from, and remember that day very fondly.

A lady on one of my local horsey Facebook pages was selling a job lot of breeches in my size. 3 pairs of Bridleway, a pair of Ariat Prixs, and a denim pair of Tredstep breeches for £20. I turned up at her door and they were immaculate. I was very pleased :)

Definitely my dressage saddle, which was free! It's a lovely Bates Isabell Werth, full leather and fits H beautifully.

I got it from a lovely lady I was dressage writing for, who had given up riding, and when I mentioned that I was saving up for a dressage saddle, said "oh, I have an old one in my garage you can have if you want. You can have it for free if you come and pick it up, and you can have all my other horse stuff too, it's just clogging up my garage and collecting dust". Sounded too good to be true, especially since she only lived 15mins away from my house.

Went over the next day, not expecting an awful lot from it, to be given this (and lots of other useful horsey bits and pieces, clippers, rugs, bits, bridles...):

gorgeous saddle I reckon that has got to be the bargain of the century.

I've found quite a few bargains through ebay.

Pair of Petrie riding boots for about £50 delivered.

Nearly new jodhs for £4.

Also, a lovely old Swaine Adeney sandwich box for £30 in an antiques shop.

My Barrie Swain Semiflex dressage saddle, in brown, with giant blocks and shortened girth straps. Exactly what I wanted, £270! From a saddler as well so I knew it was in good condition :)

It's here - and it's just as gorgeous as it looked in the pics! I'm delighted!

my beautiful legend dressage saddle £40.00 including postage. I brought it three years ago and it is fab. it's old - pre dates albion purchasing legend but it is a lovely saddle. it fits my boy and looks great

Sort of a bargain. My horse is a very funny shape to fit a saddle too. The Albion jump saddle he had didn’t fit any more. At my wits end with getting a saddle for him. Happened to be in tack shop that has a second hand section, and there were a couple that looked like they might fit.

The one that cost £85 fitted her quite nicely. Only problem is I’ve just spent £100 on getting it reflocked, as my saddler said the stuffing was in a horrendous state!
