I was in countrywide a couple of months ago buying supplies and saw a straight bar rubber bit in the bargain bucket for £1. Thought to myself that will do to start the babies.
I've spent a small fortune on bits for my 7yo who has been a bit tricky in his mouth and with his bridle for a while now ( all checks done ). Decided to have a play and put him in it. Wowzers what a difference ! Relaxed, ears forward, not gobby and mouthed up for first time in ages.

What's your best horsey bargain ?

My wonderful share horse. He's my horse of a lifetime and all I have to pay for are his shoes and his hard feed (although he gets all sorts of other lovely things from me too!) He restored my confidence after my horse (through no fault of his own) left it at rock bottom to the point I'd cry when faced with a jump. Over the years we've done quite a few 80s and a 90 (I was terrified but got round in one piece) and taken part in all sorts of things I never thought I'd do, including the BRC championships at Hartpury.

ETA - If he's not technically allowed I'll have to say my Toggi boots. They were brand new on E-bay in an auction and I think the sellers got it a bit wrong as they put about 10 identical pairs on so rather than bid against each other, 10 people put one bid each on each pair. They cost me £5. I already knew they fitted me as a I had a pair so I bought 2 pairs. The spares are still in my wardrobe!

I got the same in countrywide, 2 gag bits for £1 each!
Ended up selling them in the end as my horse at the time didn't like them, but what a bargain!
Also got a lovely brand new Kingsland saddle cloth for £15

I went to a Tagg equestrian clearance sale last week and it had the best bargains I've seen for ages. Country boots £30, Cooler £10, 3 coats £15 each, Fly mask £1, Comfort zone saddlecloth £15, normal saddlecloth £5, cord breeches £15 plus numerous other bits and bobs. My trolley was overflowing.

My mark Todd heavy weight near perfect rug..for £12 at a tack sale! Had it years now and still in good nick and does the job!

Bargain ! Love Mark Todd rugs,

Double bargain, yep horses definitely allowed, especially gorgeous greys that restore confidence. Sounds a real cracker

My Wow saddle-not only was it the exact model and colour I wanted, it was ex-display, never been on a horse and 50% off RRP.

You lucky thing, I never get bargains on saddles. Would love a wow saddle too. They look super comfy.

10 2nd hand 6'3" turnout/stable rugs for £1 each.

Now that's my kind of bargain. Buying things for a £1 is the future

I recently bought nearly £300 worth of stuff for £20 in a sale recently which I was quite smug about

My second hand but barely used Heather Moffatt, Fhoenix saddle. £450, in brown (**sigh**) with all the inserts and foam bits, two wintec girths, two sets of wintec stirrup straps, and the special HM stirrup irons, complete with instruction book and original receipt. arrived in a lovely purple, saddle case. Bought off ebay, DELIGHTED!!! Fabulous saddle, horse loves it, I love it ...Bargain!!

Was just about to mention my never-used-therefore-new-but-second-hand HM saddle I got recently. Complete with gullet plates, knee rolls etc. Wonderful!

But otherwise my Kanyon Gorse boots. They are £120 but I wear them everywhere. I have short and wide calves and are just so comfy in them.
May not seem a 'bargain' but they are definitely worth every penny.

A barely used Albion dressage saddle that retails for £2300 new for £300 :). Sold it a few weeks ago for £1500!

I've had a lot of bargains (eBay addict) but my favourite is my gorgeous Joules navy tweed show jacket. I'd been after one for ages but they were then discontinued - gutted. I found one on Boxing Day in the Joules shop in Cardiff, on the clearance rail. £70 down from ~£300 and it fits like it's been tailored for me. I've also had a few pairs of Pikeur and Dainese breeches in my local TKMaxx for £10-£20.

Just got a few weatherbeeta heavy combo stable rugs on sale from £79.99 to £10!
Probably my best ever saving and I know they are lovely rugs as I already had two before.
Really pleased!

Barely used Butet dressage saddle, with a mark on the cantle, but £1500 rather than more than double that.

Sadly when we bought Jay he did not like it, but I did sell it for the same, so it was in effect a free saddle!
