Just a ponder really, I'll get the ball rolling

I had a very hairy old fashioned type welsh sec B when I was 12, not the spindly pouncy show pony type the proper sort. He was an amazing little pony and he really helped gain my confidence jumping as my previous pony was a little monster when it came to jumping!

Dandy meaned a lot to me and when I out grew him I was so gutted but he went to a lovely home :)

They had him about 4 years after us, and we did some research into him recently as we just wanted to hear how he was doing and found out he is with 4* event rider William Blane for his daughter- don't get excited about seeing a fluffy welshy going round badminton next year :p And he is on his website TWICE! :D

I'm very proud of my fluffy little pony and its so great to see he's teaching so many more children to ride and he's so well loved. For many this doesn't seem that special but he really was a fantastic pony and to not hear of anything for four years and to see this is really a great moment for me :)

So how about yours?

When I rode my ex racer at his and mine county level show :D For a neurotic ginger giraffe and a slightly nervous rider it was amazing to be on the other side of the fence and to survive :) Fab day

Far too many to mention, but my very first homebred, who no-one else had ever ridden, going clear round Weston Park 2* CCI, was very very special, as she was really not an athlete at all, nor was she naturally brave, but was an absolute trier with total faith in me. I took her steadily, so we didn't get a high placing, but I was so so proud of her. she's now being a dressage schoolmistress in a super home, and years on she's still an absolute star who tries her heart out. She's the chestnut in my siggy, far left pic. Gorgeous mare.

I must admit I drool over all the horses in your siggy they are all lovely!
But to get a homebred to that level must have been such an achievement! And then to know shes still loving life makes it all the better :)

did my first ever dressage test after 10 years of waiting.

came out beaming and told the horse she has a home for life with me

(test was a test of whether she stays or goes....she stays.. for good :) )

Lovely thread :)

Mine would have to be:

-First ever dressage test this summer (burst into tears I was so happy :o )
-First ever course of jumps (I nearly died but it was great!)
-Cantering bareback on Bonnie the other week :)

The day my BOGOF was born.
Normally when I arrived at the yard I would go check on the horses and to see if foalie had arrived but this day I was running late and the Evil One was being delivered so waited for her to turn up before checking. Once she was settled into her stable walked down to the field and as I looked down the hill to the field I could see Satine standing over something so raced down the hill as fast as my legs would go and there he was lying flat out snoring his little head off :D:D:D

So many! My mare is the first horse I've owned, Ive had her for 4 years and we've done a bit of everything. My proudest moment though was when she carried me down the "aisle" to meet my now husband just 3 weeks a go. My dress was massive and there was a slight breeze, with loads of people watching and she was so careful with me. A lot of horses wouldnt have cope with so much frock around them but she was amazing! Everyone was crying, even the best man! It was very emotional!

What an absolutely gorgeous picture! And what a memory. I cried seeing the pic lol.

Last week during a 2' huntertrial with my four year old. She went, and jumped, and it was point and kick, and didnt look at the water, the scary looking hedge thing, the chair with the flower pots on it, and I didnt fall off, or cry and wasnt eliminated and and and I still cant believe it!

The last 21 months with Little Miss, turning her from a completely feral pony to a little star! I especially loved the backing process with her.
When I was working for Fiona and Jo Harter years ago and riding her old GP dressage horse doing passage and piaffe! (completely the horses doing I must add!)
Riding one of Dane Rawlins' AM horses and just getting to spend an hour in the indoor playing!
Someone once asked me who had schooled Olly for me as he was "beautifully schooled", it was one of the proudest moments of my life to be able to turn round and say it was all my own work.

So many over too many years, but:

Galloping over the parkland in front of Alnwick Castle after a super X-Country round in a Pony Club ODE. Fusil had flown the final jump, and someone's car radio was playing Franz von Suppe's "Light Cavalry Overture".

A hunt in Nortumberland where only 3 people finished - the huntsman, me on my 14.2 Fusil, and a well known local rider (but he was on his second horse). It was an 8-mile point, and I had to hack 14 miles home - needless to say I led him most of the way. I was SO proud of him

My first hunt after a gap of 20 years. I booked myself a wonderful little cob hireling called Henry from Sally Hall of Urchinwood Equitation and went out with the Mendip Farmers from a meet at The Castle of Comfort. I was so scared driving to the meet that I thought of bribing the groom who was delivering Henry to the pub to just keep him out all day and pretend I'd hunted. But Henry was the total confidence restorer. Hounds found within a field of the meet, we jumped the first hedge in a matter of 100 yards, and I realised that I was riding an exceptional hunter. I lost track after 28 jumps, including the biggest drop I'd ever done. We went up the side of Cheddar Gorge, jumped everything from stone walls to hunt jumps, and Everyone was so kind and friendly. Dear Henry...

And finally, just two days ago, when my dear, buxom cob, the matriarch of our little herd, went to the rescue of a new livery who was being horribly bullied. She stalked into the melee, went into reverse, and without kicking or biting anybody shunted the eveil-doers out of the way with her not inconsderable bum. After 2 or 3 buffets they slunk off. She'll never win a prize for looks or win the National, but that showed me what a gem she is. I was really proud of her.

took part [as an unafillaited rider] in a BD dresage event - i have no transport so hacked 3 miles over the fields - got there - left my fleece/over trousers in a corner - know nobody & had to ask a stranger to hold the hoss for emergency toilet visit & then we went in & big Rubes did a beautiful test & we won our class - i was so proud of my big girl - and then we hacked home:)

Everytime I foal down a mare!!! (that's my job!!) I love being there when a new little life is coming into the world!!!

My proudest moment (for myself!) was correcting a dystocia - 1st one i'd had to deal with on my own - only a head presented upside down - rang vet they were 25 mins away.. and I managed to get both legs forward let the mare roll and turn it and got it out alive before the vet arrived! I was lucky I had a very co-operative mare who didn't contract on me too much and was a gem and just stood there and let me help and a great person holding her!!!!

:D

Mine was seeing my foal born, far and away the most soul enriching experience, stil brings a tear to my eye 5 years on!!:)

The feeling I got when my friend's 17h3 got scared on a hack and decided to canter on the spot. He grew about 2 hands underneath me and I have never felt such controlled power! I was even more amazed that I could hold such a big lad who was bricking himself...

Winning my first FEI test :D
Although, to be truthful, waking up every morning and seeing H in the field outside my bedroom even if he is normally covered in mud or poo

Winning the best turned out during Royal Ascot and picking up the £250 cheque that went with it! Then the same horse coming 2nd in the race, I was so proud of her and knew she was some thing special.

I think i have 1 for each of my favourites :)

Doing my first jump with my first pony Lordy and 11'2 chestnut :)
Taking Bracken to PC camp in 2007
Jumping 1.20 with Mr Smartie, and doinga XC :D
When my dad bought me blue for christmas, it took a whole summer of crying because her owners were selling her :D i have had her for 3 years now :)
Winning the open hunter trial 2010 :) with blue

I'd been thinking about selling my lad on as I felt he was too much for me and we weren't clicking with each other... Then I hurt my back (nothing to do with horses!) and didn't go to see him for 3 weeks (he's on full livery, so no harm!) The day I went up to see him I stopped to talk to someone and heard this crashing noise, looked up and there was horse practically climbing out over his stable door - he spent the next few minutes eyes fixed on me, nodding his head up and down and pawing at the door
