Gone are my days when I could honestly say I was fearless! I think my fear after the accident will be bolting horses on hacks, spesh on roads, or areas with no stoppers *gates, ditches etc* and most likely crashing down on roads! Not an experience I want to repeat!

And can't forget my fear of lorries! Even on foot I freeze up and panic!

Not a fan of loading and travleing horses either. Not so bad in boxes but traveling them by trailers scares the living day light out of me!

So Yours? Around horses, about them or ridden?

On a postive note what are you fearless at? ... Me... I will jump anything, any height, spred, angel, solidness, or other wise on any horse!

bridges on bridleways, esp when wet, frighten the life out of me, had a friend whose horse slipped on a brigde, legs went completly from under him, and through the fence, was horrible

am same though will jump anything ride anything, totally fearless in that respect

I have fears of having my horse dart in front of a vehicle on the road. Especially a large truck!
Another fear I have is being thrown onto a metal T post and having it impale (sp) me!
I think all are riding related

I am generally fearless about most other aspects of handling a horse. I am pretty comfortable around them

Loading horses or getting into a confined space with a horse - comes from when my old horse pinned me against the wall of our lorry and dislocated my shoulder...
Atm i have a real problem on the ground with horses bringing them in etc as i had a few rear up with me at my old job and having been kicked in the head once i do not wish to repeat that experience BUT im gradually getting over this!
Also, and most unfortunately, i have a real problem with rearers because my last horse (same one that did all of the above) reared and fell over backwards on me...

My only fears are things like my horse jumping out of the field and onto the road (he has jumped out of the field before, but into the other field, although its exactly the same height onto the road), or me falling off on the road and my horse going onto the motorway or something. Nothing to do with handling/riding though- am fearless in my young age

(abit too much so..!)

Biggest fear is being bolted with.

When I first started lessons, (this wasnt at current yard) horse took off and zoomed round corner, being a total novice - had no balance and went straight into the side of the viewing area (was indoor school). So perhaps that's the cause sub-consciously

And I loathe jumping in the field. Will jump happily in an arena or out hacking, but not in the jump field. I tend to freeze up and panick even riding down the track to get to it. This is even if I'm on the safest horse in the yard.

Not fearless with anything. Struggle with my confidence a lot of the time. However will happily get on anything that is "dead to the leg" and ride it.

I would say when horses are being silly on the roads and you have cars all around you.

My other fear is when you are galloping across fields and your horse goes down a rabbit hole

Or just a hole in the ground.

Rearing

Going into a certain ponies stable at my yard (he has kicked me in the past)

Falling off pickle is a fear of mine (I have before its just such a long way to fall!) and he never stops he runs off as you fall

i think i'm quite fearless, i took Liberty on an hour long hack around roads me and her had never seen ( with a girl from the yard, my mum was too scared) i would do anthing hacking as long as it isnt too near roads, you hear too many horror stories, for example urs iz.! have been bolted with three times, once landing on a wooden fence but i'm not scared of it happening again. i'm a bi nervous of stopping for a long time as last time i did that libs rolled while i was on her, but not scared as it was really funny! not scared of any traffic as libs is increadible with them!! good work iz!!

Thats another one of mine too! Horse tripping or going down a hole at flat out gallop - not fun!

yup, that for me too, after it happened to me in 05 out hunting, broke my collarbone (horse was fine though thank heavens!)!

Either getting dragged, or horse coming over backwards on me. Rearing, as such, I don't find fearful, but one horse I was riding coming over backwards was the one thing that's truely scared me when riding. Otherwise, I don't scare easy!

rearers, bolters, and horses which shy quickly for no apparent reason. I don't 'do' big horses, just not my cup of tea and quite frankly scare me at times

.
Lorries also scare me, as do bridges (on foot, by car or riding).

i dont particulaly like double trialers...especially after seeing and having own horse accidnents involving them....scary!....Fear of loosing my horse, like if he ever escaped and got onto a road...could cause majour issues! And also a big fear....crashing whilst travelling with horse attached to car (in trailer)...coulnt bare the thought of anything happening to him!Can just imagine the things that could happen:( !!

Horses loose in the field that start to prat about - sounds odd, but Stan used to gallop at me and that was scary! Not all horses tho, only some, and only in a herd, fine when they are alone

Small stables and badly behaved horses - again from Stan - he used to rear up and try to play wth you (wasnt bad, just stupid horsey)

However I think the above 2 are more *good* fears than *bad* as they are about keeping yourself safe!

Ridingwise, not much bothers me except being bolted with, which again IS somethng one should have fear about as its a safety thing again!

Well after a serious road accident, I am wary of riding on busy roads. I also fear being bronked off after a nasty incident when my girl was first backed.

TBH, at my age there is not a lot to do with horses I am fearless about - I've seen and experienced so many things go wrong I err on the side of caution these days

I would say that I am pretty rearless riding and handeling horses. I am aware of the risks and can spot dangerous situations but I don't get scared I just deal with them.

My fear is my horse being in the field!! A few years ago one of my horses was out in the field with one other horse, the two horses knew each other well and were usually very quiet in the field together but she got kicked and after a few months of treatment she had to be pts. Now I will only turn them out individually with bandages, boots and over reach boots (my other horse had all this on though so I am aware it won't save their life). I am terrified of it happening again. My horse is out for two hours a day (4 in summer) but I have to make myself do it as I know it's best for her - I don't like it!!!!!!
When I was at uni my horse was on full livery for a while and everytime the livery yard rang me, I would see the number on my phone and think the same had happened again, my stomach churned every time!

ETA: not the biggest fan of travelling in trailers either. HGV lorries with air are the way forward!!!!

falling off at spread jumps, fell off at one years and years ago and injured my back, still hurts not when i do some things if i slouch when sitting and then sit up straigh or when on the computer for ages my back starts to hurt.

being crushed by big chunky horses, had that fear sicne i was about 4 when i got knocked over by 1 at my aunts in the field, i was with some1 but still got knocked over by the boistrous mares

horse rearing and falling abckwards, never seen it happen or had it happen to me (been reared with but not alot) looks frightfully disatorous and very scary!!!!

Done that, so lucky Chex was ok, just somersaulted a bit and threw me miles away. That was about 6 years ago, I never gallop on land I don't know now.

I don't have any fears, apart from being hit while on the roads, or falling off again
crazy.gif

Horse charging around and damaging itself
Legs down holes
And my biggest fear is loose girths and getting dragged (at speed) after an accident where just that happened.

Im generally a big worrier though.

Out of control dogs, Lady's been chased and bitten before, Bolting horses especially on roads, ditches, fell in one once the horse landed on top of me, I'm not the bravest rider though
smile.gif

I have a slight niggle about them falling on me. I broke my ankle from a horse fall years ago then shortly after I got back in the saddle had another horse fall with me on the road. Never happened since but I do break a slight sweat whenever a horse slips or stumbles with me!!
