Reasonably priced, but at 5 is not worth it. My horse has the same problem and had the injections. My vet told me that in light work we could prob keep him going for 5-6 years, but if we jumped it would be 1-3. Do you want to risk having a horse that is unrideable at 7?
Arthritis at 5, I'd look elsewhere. The pics show a weak back end, the hocks are very straight, and in one pic, it looks like theres a large lump on the inside of the hock, poss old injury ?
2k without the arthritis yes, but a horse with than conformation, and current weakness, may not last long. I wouldnt jump him, or want to do dresage as the exertion on the hocks could make him a large field ornament
He's nice.
Apart from the arthritis thing. He's too expensive for a horse with arthritis, it's a condition which only gets worse. Yes it's managed at the moment but he's only 5, he has a long time ahead of him and what if he goes lame 2 years down the line and needs retiring? You then have a very expensive lawnmower!
I'd perhaps inquire as he sounds like a nice chap but I would certainly what to talk to the vet about his full history and my own vet first. And having been there, done that with my own boy (he developed arthritis after we got him) I personally wouldn't recommend taking on a horse knowingly with it to anyone, lots of heartache and there are plenty other healthy happy horses out there!
what a shame as looks like a lovely boy but have to agree with the others, def wouldn't buy with arthritis at such a young age - just not worth it and there are so many others out there without the problems. Also, they say he's for sale due to financial problems but may be trying to get rid due to injury?
