Hi

I just wondered if anyone has had their horse treated with this, (this is for a friend) and if it failed the first time would you try it again?

Thanks:)

Nadia had it done twice. Not that it didn't work the first time but the vet said we may as well give her another dose since she was insured.
It did work for Nadia I believe but I also gave her more turnout than she used to, I pump her with quite a variety of supplements, oil so I think all of them together has made a huge difference.

My horse had it earlier this year, maybe 3.5 months ago. I think it made a big difference to him but I do think it's starting to wear off now (my vet told me it lasts up to 6 months). His way of going changed totally within a few weeks of having it. I'm planning for him to have it again in about a month, just before I go on hols, so that when I get back it should be starting to work again.

Personally I think it made more difference to him than any of the other drugs he has had over the years, but whether it's because that's what I wanted to see, I don't know...

If there had been no improvement at all after the first course I don't think I would bother again. Mine only had it because he is insured and they'll be paying for the second course; if he hadn't been insured, I probably wouldn't have had it. I've just renewed my insurance and he is now excluded for arthritis so he won't be getting Tildren again when this claim finishes, at £500 a go!

I know, Nadia had 2 and now arthritis or actually Petplan have now excluded lameness from the insurance so she'll not be having it again. I'm the same as you, had it now been covered on the insurance I wouldn't have tried it I don't think. It was a new thing in the UK when she had it done and the could be side effects scared the life out of me.

Well friend's horse isn't insured, and has only just had first lot of Tildren waiting to see if it has any effect now. Thanks :)

Must admit I wasn't really concerned about the side effects. The infusion was done slowly and vet told me what to look out for afterwards, and how to react. I wasn't really expecting anything to change TBH and tried it because I was insured. Vet also suggested shockwave but I chose not to bother with that as I'm really not convinced about the science behind it. So, he had Tildren and Adequan (just about to start a second course of Adequan). He has had Adequan before but I definitely saw a bigger/better change in him when he had Tildren as well.

I have renewed my insurance for vets fees this year but TBH at next year's renewal, if horse is still going/still sound then I am tempted to remove vets fees and just have 3rd party liability etc.

My mare had it once 2 years ago now it helped for around a week that was all with her however she had 3 bouts of colic after the treatment.

So i got a second opinion later on that year and the vet suggested starting again so we used a cheaper steroid jab and she had that in oct last year and is still sound now when it would have ran out a long time ago and took back shoes off. Vet suggested using Tildren if she goes lame again in future but so far so good. Going to get her hocks re x-rayed next year to see what has been going on if they have fused or not. She is in foal at moment due July next year and the vet thinks that will help as well there is no health issues in her bloodlines we know she was overworked when younger and hunted a lot which we believe is the cause for her spavins.

My lad had tildren today. Very straightforward, no problems all he has done is sweat slightly. Am allowed to start hacking him out in a weeks time, should see full effect in a month or so. Insurance has paid out for it so whilst they will pay we thought we would give it a go
