Your favourite fictional horses

I would like to have seen "Zara" by Joyce Stranger listed, I loved her books anyhow.

But wasn't Cockbird a real horse, Memoirs of a Foxhunting Man was a fictionalised autobiography.

Another vote for the Silver Brumby series - Flicka and Throwa in particular.

As a child I loved any of the books by the Pullen-Thompson sisters. In fact I've still got all my pony books in the loft, just can't make myself give them away.

Also remember reading a book by Joyce Stranger (I think) about a shire which was rescued, can't remember the name of the book but did love it as a child.
