Your favourite thing about your horse

Ive also got a cuddly bear! He's almost five and when I got him almost two years ago I never thought Id even like him much after losing my horse of a lifetime, I just got him to ease my emotional pain. But I honestly can't fault him, yesterday he was looking over the stable door I was doing smoochies on his soft nose and he was whickering quietly the whole time. My goodness I adore that boy now xxx

My favourite thing about my friends pony is that she loves playing in puddles. She seems to stop to look at her reflection and then joyously splash splashes her way through making the most mess possible :) it's so cute!

That she's learning to trust me around her head and occasionally get those lovely head-in-chest cuddles. And if I'm ever late getting out to her in the morning she'll neigh when she hears the back door close as if to say 'what time do you call this!'

When I first got him he gave me a reason to actually get up and leave the house other than work.

Some days he's a complete angel and then other days I wonder what I have I done so wrong for him to act the way he does at times but then I have to remind myself that he is still a baby (3 next month) and he has changed alot in the last year and he will change alot in the next year :)

He will canter down from the top of his field when he sees me walking towards the gate i'm normally bringing food but i like to think he's happy to see me :D

When I appear on the Yard he can see me across from his field and stand and stare at me as i move about doing stuff

In the summer he will normally put his head over my shoulder and let me give his face a hug and snuggle him when he lays down in the field :)

Im sure there are many many more but id be here for years writing them :)

I have so many things I love about Samuel but my favourite has to be the way, when he's in his box when I'm walking onto the yard, his head magically appears at his window and he flutters his nostrils. Yes, I know it's because mummy gives him treats but it still makes me feel happy.

I also love the way he doesn't even bother to scratch his itchy bits when I'm grooming him, he just indicates to me where he desires to be scratched - cheeky little chap.

The way he insists, after his halter is off and before his bridle goes on, on a 20 second head hug. He wraps his neck around me as I stand in front of his shoulder, puts his head sideways onto my chest and just asks to be hugged.
And for my other horse, it's the way he uses his upper lip to help guide the bit into his mouth when my novice husband is getting things a bit mixed up.

Arch is such a cuddle monster and is always so pleased to me. I always get a whinny from his stable in the morning and if he's in the front field, he hears my car and is at the gate before I am.

Monty is just such a gentle, kind soul who really looks after his human, no matter who they are. In 20 years nobody has ever fallen off him, although 2 of us have fallen over with him! He's 17hh and his owner's 9 year old takes him to pony club.

His gentleness and kindness, he doesn't have a nasty bone in his body. He will take a tictac from between your finger and thumb, never bites, has had dogs leap at his back legs barking and growling yet never kicked out.

His stupid shies at irrelevant things - he can be oh so sharp! Yesterday hacking out he ended up spinning so violently into the road when he saw a bit of matting that had been dumped in the grass, yet the day before stood calmly behind a flat bed truck as the giant grabber hand lifted and deposited two pallets of shavings on the ground in front of his nose! Where is the sense in that I ask you? :)

It's so hard to pick just one thing about my lot!

B - has to be her sass and stroppiness! She's such a little horse but has such a big personality, and an opinion on everything. One time she was so opposed to staying in her stable she jumped out and ran off to her field. But despite our differences of opinion (sometimes!) she is very loyal and loving.

H - such a clown, will do anything to get your attention. Will have his rug and head collar hung up neatly outside his stable to come back 5 minutes later and they've been thrown the length of the yard! And he's so precious about his stable wraps that he just doesn't want them taken off. Never fails to cheer me up and make me laugh.

M - my youngest but probably most sensible, soppy and loving of all three. Will always bury his head into my chest when he wants a cuddle and loves to walk round "gupping" to entertain himself!

Maggie - the facial expressions she pulls, she looks so adorable Ive never known a horse be so expressive. Also ger fantastic breeding, paces & jump of course haha

Aqua - her potential, I love the she is such a quality little horse (although not sure she looks it atm hidden under a lot of wooliness!) Sadly her character is not my type, but i will produce her well & she will be someone's dream horse

my boy is a genuine angel. he will try his heart out for me and has the patience of a saint, brilliant with kids and novices etc. My OHs family came up one day and fox happily pottered about while wee cousins had a go of his and stood stock still when the 84 year old great aunt wanted a shot too and we had to help her on and off! could not ask for a better natured boy, he might be a bit bashed and scarred and only insured on one leg but hes worth his weight in gold!!

My mare is just a delight to be around. Even on the most stressful days, I look over the fence at her and smile. She is the most affectionate mare I have ever met and she likes to rest her nose against my stomach while I gently hug her big head. I just love her to bits. :)

She is sane, we may spend a large amount of time performing airs above the ground but she picks her moments and I have a blast with her, she's made riding fun again. Her exuberance under saddle makes up for her complete indifference to humans on the ground.

The other one is a snuggle bug, unfortunately she is completely unpredictable under saddle and I don't trust her an inch, which is why she is a companion only.

With Harley, it's the old married couple feeling, he can give me grouchy looks and wind me up but we know each other inside out.

With Tinner it's trust, I love the bones of that horse, his personality is coming out more and more as he's growing up.

H is amazing because he's brilliant at letting me try stuff, for all that he's a bit of a twit at times:

He'll stand stock-still for me to do silly things like standing up on the saddle or jumping off over his back end;
He puts up with lances and quintains and target-rings if I want to do some jousting;
He's been ridden in chainmail before for a fancy-dress dressage competition, and was remarkably sensible about it;
Despite being a fidget when mounted in a cross-saddle, when I get on aside he stands like a rock until I've got my right leg in place;
He gets really into barrel-racing and leans in around the barrels like a pro;
He looks after all the kids when we do our little have-a-go sessions.

I mean, he's a bit littler than I might like, and he's an opinionated git who likes to tank off with me occasionally, but I love him to bits and he's going to be the family pony for as long as he lives, even if I do eventually move on to something slightly taller.

Buffy has alot of funny qualities!

If she gets bored she sticks her head in her water bucket and blows bubbles!

She is terrified of leaves. Autumn is a bad time for us.

A flatbed lorry? Fine. HGV? No problem. Stray leaf? Different coloured grass in the hedge? "OMG I AM GOING TO DIE, DON'T PANIC! DON'T PANIC!".

Also if you scratch an itchy bit, she grooms you with her top lip, she has never ever tried to use her teeth though :)

I have always said that if your heart doesn't miss a beat when you see your horse then you simply have the wrong horse!

<<<Moses, his sheer beauty and his outstanding intelligence, he is a joy everyday. I am so sad that he will not be the riding horse I thought for me. He has a weak stifle and my weight is an issue ( yes i know and I have tried!! ) I will find him a nice loan home close by and then shamelessly stalk him and his new rider!

Ffin, my horse of a life time, i Love the fact he would give his dying breath to please me, he is one in a million.

Kevin, I've not had him a week yet so its early days, I like his calm, friendly eye. Its the reason I bought him.

Tiger - His intelligence

Sam - His glorious shining golden coat

George - His distrust of most things apart from me

Lloyd - His perfect manners and pleasing attitude

Daisy - Her inner spark

Zorro - His proudness, he looks like it's an honour just being him!

Brian - At the moment...................well.........................I guess he's a nice colour lol!
