I took the dogs out for our usual walk today, and it was late in the evening and the air was warm and the sky was dusky blue and pink... it all looked and felt so lovely.

I just had to take a load of photos. They don't really do it justice, but here they are:

As you can see, we don't have much in the way of gradient out here.

There are other walks I love, but this is the one we do most often and it's so peaceful and easy to imagine you're the only human being in the whole world.

Can I see some piccies of your favourite walks?

I wish I could show you some pics of where I walk my little doggy, but it would be winter before they uploaded, (dial up) but one of my favourits is a place called Spitchwick along side the river dart, on dartmoor, this time of year you can find a lot of kids tombstoning off the rocks, and gets quite busy but if you go a bit later in the evening when its a bit less busy it is the most peacfull place, the most uplifting thing is the sweet smell of honeysuckle, and the trout jumping, another place is one of the tors where you get a 360 degree view on a clear day you can see for miles, plus the doggy loves chaseing bunnys

Those are lovely pictures, and I can quite clearly see the happy tongues

We have lots of favourite walks with Stella. Central Park and Prospect Park early in the mornings are fabulous. Hundreds of acres and hundreds of dogs.

At weekends we either walk in CT, which is heavily wooded...

Or else we're at Hither Hills Beach in Montauk.

Wow, that beach looks brilliant - I love your Boston terrier! I wish I could take Leah to the beach more often, but she's scared of the sea and she's not too keen on sand either, the little wimp.

All of em! I live in the middle of a forest park and five miles from a beach.

Although Prose wins the prize for the most illustrious venue (and yes, I was looking around for a flying Boston back in October

Ours is Knettishall Country Park, it has everything a doggie needs:
Heath to run around on

Woods to sniff in (prizes if you spot the spaniel)

And a river to swim in

And for me.... free parking

We like the beach as well though! But that's a bit more of a trek

I think Stella would rather have some of the splendid country walks posted on here at her disposal, but we manage

We decided not to get the dachshund
frown.gif
The foster mother was brutally honest with me about dachshund temperaments and potential health issues. I knew of their back issues, but I did not know that more than one third of them develop problems. And they need to be carried up stairs. As for children and dachshunds, I literally stopped every single mini dachshund owner in NYC over a period of two weeks and most said that their dogs do not like children at all and will get snappy with them. Knowing that we want to have a human child in the next year or two, going ahead with the adoption did not seem prudent. So we're back to the drawing board, and still *desperately* want a newbie.
