nope, never had a problem with a standard neck anything removing mane, that includes, masta, loveson, rhino, random cheap make. if it does it will be far less noticeable than halfway up the neck.
Whereas I know of many horses manes be ruined by half necks of various makes
never had problems with half necks im a convert! My mares mane has made it through its first winter without rubbing thats being rugged constantly with high necks and combo and a combination of both! and she has a thicker well muscled neck this year! just make sure your rugs are big enough...iv gone up a size!
We have used them for many years, on many animls. Not one has ever slipped, ripped or leaked and always fitted extremely well, and really last for years. Never had a problem with surcingle undoing either, but you just need to add a plaiting band to the T to prevent it if it should happen. Only had this problem on shires rugs though. I have to say though that PE rugs are better, great rugs.
Just to also mention, never had any rubbing from half-neck rugs, only full necks.
I have that exact rug-the masta zing half neck and love it!! My mare is a dutch WB and it fits like a glove, hasn't leaked, ripped or slipped, and hasn't rubbed her mane at all. Haven't ever used any other masta rugs though.
Masta rugs are terrible - I have a heavy weight turnout and the fit is just crap. Constantly slips right to one side. Plus it was just ridiculously heavy. Got a weatherbeeta Landa, I think? Medium weight turnout, full neck but very breathable and so far has lasted really well.
I'll ditto whoever suggested the Premier Equine rugs, brilliant value!
And to OP - your in trouble! I didn't know Central Saddlery had a web site, this can only be bad news to my bank balance!
ETA I bought Weatherbeeta half necks (possibly the arion?) from Equestrian clearance and they have been great, never rubbed at all. The worst case of rubbing I've seen was from an old style Kingshead rug which literally hogged the horse - but different horses suit different shaped rugs.

for value for money, buy an AXIOM on ebay..they fit chunky types beautifully..and very waterproof..get a pretty high denier..mine are 1200.
failing that if you want the more expensive type, AMIGO.
Both the above makes fit a cob shoulder well
(I dont buy Mastas anymore as they just dont fit)

Echo the Axiom reccomendation. There's a seller on ebay who sells them seriously cheap (though the P&P is expensive). Go for the really high denier ones like the 1800D as they are as waterproof and tough as you can get. I got a brand new 6'3 HW full new combo 1800D for for under £45 inc p&p. It's proved to be an excellent fit and very durable (serial rug ripper hasn't destroyed it yet!)
I have had 2 zing turnouts for both my boys, 1 is tb x cob and my other lad is a little cob. Neither rugs fit well, on little cob there isnt enough depth in the rug but it fits ok in length. Tb x cob's rug hangs down at the front and always slips to one side and he ripped it within 4 days of having it as surcingles always came undone. I stick to weatherbeeta for my beasties now, they fit them much better and are harder wearing
I won't buy anything but Fal rugs now. They're expensive but they last forever and are the only rugs not to have rubbed my horse. I say I won't buy anything but Fal but the truth is I haven't bought any for 4 years as mine are still going strong even with an equine wrecking ball inside them - other rugs (Masta lasted 3 weeks before getting destroyed, he wore Weatherbeeta for 2 days and it rubbed his shoulders till they bled, despite looking like it fitted) have been terrible. They've been patched a few times but rips are always small unlike the Masta that just kept getting bigger and bigger. They're well worth the investment in the long term. I've bought a couple second hand off e-bay to keep the costs down, it doesn't matter that they're not new as they stay in such good condition for so long.
