I'm 5ft 8 and my boy is 17.2!! Actually wouldn't ride anything smaller than 16.2 but that's personal preferrence. Just feels too close to the ground on anything smaller!!!!
I am 5'4" and my horse is 15.3hh I tend to use a mounting block but if I have to get off and back on again I am suprised I can actually be agile and get back up
Never get on from the ground so haven't a clue if I could!! I suspect not as both my knees are almost completely gone, plus I was also told to avoid getting on from the ground to save their back.
However I have spent time educating ned in the art of standing still next to anything that I can safely use to get on
I am 5'9 and I have a 16.3hh and a 17.1hh - both are trained to gates/fences/mounting blocks/ramps as I am useless at getting on unless I really have to from the floor due to my knees.
I'm 5'6" and my horse is 15'2 - he rides alot bigger though - the saddler the other day said he looks about 16'2 when I ride him... I had a lesson on a 16'1 the other day and he felt much smaller than my horse. Weird!
I'm 5'3" and a bit!! Have a 16.2hh and a 16.3hh. The bigger horse is a warmblood so feels bigger still. I can just about get on from the ground if I absolutely have to. However, I have heard, and I can't remeber where, that it's better for your horses back and your saddle to mount from a block where possible. Rubbish?? Don't know but makes me feel less inadequate!!
Im 4ft 11 (feel free to laugh) and i usually ride a 14.3, but I ride/school friends ponies/horses from 11hh to 16hh! and i can get onto all of them without mounting blocks (even managed to vault onto a 15.2 once, but i have no idea how i managed it to be honest!)
