Your High/Low lights of 2006...

Highs
Won a ODE, and had a few placing
Won a dressage and had a few really good places in Prelim and novice
Scored 72% in a novice dressage and in the few novice tests she's done they've all been over 64%
Qualified 2nd rounds UK Chasers Prelim and Novice
So in all a good year for a horse that has only been off the race track for a year

Lows
At the being of the year she used to rodeo through her dressage tests, but is thankfully growing out of this phase

Funny how time flies but it's actually 1 year now!

It's all a bit suspect, one minute the bloke says about £800 but after I gasped he said it might only be £400! Erm, no thanks!! All sounds a bit dodgy to me, how can a price halve like that?! LOL. I think they see me coming.......

Nevermind, I know plently of cheap mechanics
smile.gif

Apparently it needs minor welding on the rear chasis, but in his words 'it's not that bad actually' and one new tyre as I have a nail in it, so how that csan amount to 800 quid I don't know.....

I dont ahve alot but

HIghs:

-having a healthy horse in the end (see lows)
- getting placed for the first time at aff dressage on third go
- even doing aff dressage

Lows:

- Nigel had a hurrendous accident n wasnt sure if he'd make a full recovery, very luckily he has.
- falling off Nigel for the first time-eek it hurt!

Is it really that long
shocked.gif

A new tyre is fair enough....say £100-£150. The welding can't be more than another £100 though....so what else is he doing

Highs

Finishing on my dressage score in an ON class for the first time ever! Went home with cash and a nice Rozza.

Going clear round my first Intermediate.

Winning both Prelim classes on my new 4 yr old's first dressage outing (66% both - not too bad)

Teaching my new baby to jump, and him turning out to have an enormous, scopey jump, huge enthusiasm, and not a yellow hair in sight!

Lows

My older horse getting a virus early on in season, then getting kicked by baby horse at end of season, so only managed 4 events in the middle of 2006.

Show jumping at IN and Intermediate level - it's scary, and I'm rubbish at it!!! Why isn't there a Novice Intermediate class where you can do Novice sj (and dressage for that matter) Intermediate xc???!!!

Rearing 5 times in first ever medium dressage test on 'best' horse. Oooops.

Being given a reasonable horse to event for next year- my first ride for an Owner!!

Worst bits

Nightmare time with Forrest being ill and having 101 problems, ending up with him being put down, still in tears about it. Will never find another like him- he was just unique.

Having to put Owen through back surgery,Owen being a never ending battle to get 'right' and never staying right for more than a few weeks at a time despite spending thousands on him and exploring every avenue of treatment...

A year I'd rather forget. 2007 will be just fab I am going to make great things happen
smile.gif

Having our first first in a riding club horse class
Doing our first 3ft SJ class ever (never again!)
Getting our best mark in dressage- 63%! I was well chuffed.

Lows-
Going to hill top XC at Ledbury where he pretty much refused to lift a single foot off the ground despite having seen it all before and done it all before. This was in our lesson with William Miflin and it was majorly embarassing- he'd done the middle height of all the fences the last time we went yet he refused the baby height ones this time.
In the afternoon we went round as a group without instruction and he jumped almost everything without a second thought! That was a low.

And our first dressage mark which was 43%- a complete nightmare and the area qualifiers for the riding club. Miraculously we weren't the bottom mark though! (we were the 'B' team anyway) That was another low.
