.....am I the only one who was a bit miffed at the number of people who turned up late to the demos at YHL? Not only did they disturb other people by making them get up to get to seats, but they made an absolute racket stomping up the steps and on to the platforms.
We had a family in front of us turn up 20 minutes late to the Carl Hester demo - once they'd disturbed everyone around them by sitting down, the father then went off 5 minutes later to with his kids to get something to eat, making even more noise. Then came back yet again 10 minutes later stinking the whole row out with burgers and sausages.....

Am sorry if I sound like a whinging old woman, just gets my goat - why can't believe just turn up on time for something - it's called common bloody courtesy!!

Nope you werent the only one!
I wasnt equally annoyed! if we could get there hangover and all and sit quietly so can everyone else

I hate it when people do that. Screaming kids are the worse. I was at the NI International Horse Show last month, it was on from 7pm to 11pm yet the people in front of me brought 4 kids, one no older than 3 who screamed the entire time. Grr

While the rest clabbered over the seats and argued and got in the way.

Gosh I hate that sort of behaviour. Oh and also screaming children. ARGH!! When we were watching the showjumping at Burghley/Blenheim, it really pi$$ed me off!

What pi**ed me off was towards the end of the Pippa/Will demo was the stampede to leave the arena before Pippa had even finished! She was trying to thank her team and the team at YHL and all that some people could think about was trying to get down the stairs before everyone else. I thought they were giving free money away the way they were treading all over each other

I'm afraid you get these people at all demos wherever they are. It seems like they aren't very interested in the shows really but they have to be able to say that they were there?

Also, there are other places to eat their picnic than in the show...crisp packets etc Grr

We thought that was extremely rude too at the end of her demo, I just couldn't believe how many rushed to get out of their seats before she'd even finished

Must admit we were late for the knights (phwoah fit men or what

) show so crept discretly into some seats

I wasn't at YHL but I do so agree with the principle. I go to the Royal International every year to watch the Nations Cup showjumping. It's a big, international, important, televised competition . . . . and what do we get? A constant procession up and down the stands of people with food/drinks/children running around etc etc. If they're not going to sit and watch why bother going into the stands at all? They're just a ****ing nuisance and get in the way of those of us who actually DO want to watch some classy SJ-ers in action! It's such a treat to see it live and not have to rely on Eurosport!

well i have to put my hands up and say we did go to carl's demo late because we had just been watching the dressage to music in the horsewear arena but alot of people were later than us. We also watched the knight and oh some were rather yummy lol especially st george lol

I wasn't there, but people are just so rude nowadays. They've clearly never been taught basic manners, and, of course, they're passing the attitude on to their children. Watching someone live, and behaving as if you're sitting in front of the telly is beyond the pale.

[/ QUOTE ] I had to leave the Dressage to music demo a bit early to get to Carl Hester. I did so as quietly and invisibly as possible (head down suffle below peoples eye line). I really think the organisers should say something about curtesy at these events and there should be signs at the arena explaining that people won't be permitted to go in late (as they do at the theatre - allowing late arrivals to go in only at the end of an act!).

The disruptive ill mannered people irritated the hell out of me too. What was with the arriving late and standing in front of viewers whilst they figured out where to go?

the eating, the mobile phones, the unrelated lengthy conversations. I suppose I'll have it all again at Olympia

On a happier note, I haven't been to YHL before and was so pleased with the demos. I spent too much of course, including the Carl Hester rein and an Elevator bridle, but it was great

Sorry, Wayne, Dwayne, Shane, and Zane can be a handful at times, especially when they've had a bit of sneaky Stella.
