My daughter worked on a stall today and even though they kept a good look out things were still stolen. Not cheap items but things costing over £100. That means they have to sell lots of things without making any profit to make up for it.
I know the stall holders are charged a lot to be there. I dont think she is going to bother next year.

that really doesn't surprise me tbh, there where so many people at every stall, I remember thinking it would tough for the stall holders to keep a close eye on everyone.

Really feel for the stall holders.:(

I am really not suprised, the amount of people jostling about makes it seemingly impossible to keep an eye. When I was paying at Horse health the lady behind the counter was firmly instucting the staff to stand at the front of the store to keep watch. Conversely I picked up a handful of studs in one stand and stood in front of the 3 staff for ages trying to pay whilst they all chatted, would have been beyond easy to stick them in my pocket!

It's such a shame, but it doesn't surprise me with so many people crowding around a stall.

I do feel terribly sorry for the stall holders that happened to.

Sad world we live in. ~Even 'the normal horsey people' who we'd all assume pays our own ways steal at the given opportunity. Not sure what anyone can do about it, but it must be hard for the stall holders. (I've never been to YHL, so can only imagine.)

Our local tack shop used to have to security tag every part of their bridles as people used to steal pieces off them. (Shop since closed down). Would hate to be a shop/stall holder these days.

Sorry, I don't mean it's acceptable at all - but, if people are that way inclined, it is significantly easier to do so on a busy, jostling stall with do many distractions around. It's disgusting that people so - but we all know that being horsey doesn't automatically equate to being honest.

As the saying goes, the more I see of people the more I love my animals. I'm so sorry that a few have spoilt it for the many...

My friend who i went with had lost one of her bags which had some jods she had bought and purse,we thought if someone had found them they would keep them..but at end of day we checked to c if anything been janded in and luckily they had been...so there is some honest people out there still

Yes, it was so incredibly busy, I often had to walk out around others to get in to pay so to speak! It's awful and probably ridiculously naive of me but you just assume other 'horsey' people not to be the type to steal.. Or even want to steal! How bloody awful to pay I should imagine high rates only to have to make up for the loss first :-(

Stealing is a shabby thing to do to small businesses.

But today wasn't all bad for the traders I spoke to. They'd had a great time and were happy with the number of sales they'd had even though today wasn't as chaotic as yesterday.
Looking at the shoppers laden down with bags, it must have been worth the trip.

It's awful isn't it, so sad that things like this happen at such a lovely event. I did feel for some of the staff at the busier stands as you could tell they were trying to keep an eye on things but there was just so much to watch.
