Thinking about going to Your horse live this year. Is it worth the trip and are you best getting a VIP ticket to ensure a seat at the demos? Any other tips welcome. Many thanks.

Good walking shoes!

Lots of money :D

Get someone else to do your horses so no time restrictions.

A head torch for finding your way back to your car!

A shopping list of must-haves.

A friend or two for the craic.

Enjoy!

:D

We went last year and couldn't get in to see the demos we wanted to see. This year have purchased VIP tickets to make sure we see what we want. I understand all the silver VIP tickets have now sold out

We've gone very year since it started and love it.

Persoanlly I don't think the VIP tickets are worth the additional money. You don't actually get out of having to que for the main demos and if you are not in your seat 15 minutes beforehand they will release the seats to "normal" people anyway. Just plan your day well. if you are there all weekend (and we are!) see the main arena demo first thing on the saturday - its the time with least queues.

(Oh blast...gave away my secret weapon there!)

Oh... and the shop & drop fills up really fast. Get a couple of bags in there early on and you can usually top up if the items are not to big. As long as you pay again each time (its for charity anyway!) they are quite good about it.

Finally - plan to eat lunch at a really odd time. Either don't eat breakfast and have your lunch at about 11, or eat a huge breakfast and have your lunch at about 3. Means you don't have to fight as much for table space. (Or get a burger and eat it in the queue for the main demo!)

Thanks for the tips. Looks like silver VIP tickets are sold out and only gold left for Sunday. The gold ones seem a bit steep. Will have a think about it. Getting to the early demos may be the trick.

YHL is the highlight of my year :D Definitely worth going, it's horsey heaven! You will leave with armfuls of stuff you didn't even realise you 'needed', and there's always a lot of things on offer ;) The demos are always very busy so if you really want to see something you will have to queue quite early - I've never had a VIP ticket and always managed to see what I've wanted to see, but it's quite nerve wracking as you never know if you'll get in! So get there early with snacks/lunch to eat while you wait. Wanted to get silver VIP tickets this year to see if it was any better but have obviously left it too late.
Wear layers - it's all inside huge agricultural type sheds and is usually cold inside, but last year was much warmer so they'd obviously put the heating on, and I was going round in a t-shirt so not sure how this year will be!
Wear "horsey" shoes/walking boots, but comfy ones as you will walk miles. Don't make the mistake of wearing "nice" shoes as you have to walk across a field and muddy track and I've seen a lot of ruined uggs before! Though saying this, once you've got across the field/car park there is a bus which can ferry you to the doors.

Can't wait!

Ps) don't worry if it's been raining and your car can't cope with wet fields - they have tractors everywhere to tow you back out ;)!

Has anyone found any discount codes yet? I resent not getting a freebie or a half price ticket!!

I love YHL. It will be my 4th year this year. I hope they haven't got Rocking Horse again though, or at hope they have got a new routine for this year.

I saw Rocking horse the first year I went. Thought it was ok, but nothing special, have seen better.
Then the next year we saw them again, the routine was THE SAME, so I wasnt impressed at all
Havent bothered since, and cant believe their there every year!

Would much rather see Met Police there again!

I got the VIP tickets last year and found them a total wasted of money, will stick to the standard ones this year!
I have heard they are clearing the arena between every performance which will cause an upset
