Whos thinking of going to your horse live this year? I go most years but Im not sure Im going to this year as not sure its going to be very covid secure.

I'm going & looking forward to it, all being well CV wise.

I didn't think the reserved seat price is bad at all for 3-4 hours demo's - especially given it includes two recent Olympic medallists.

No - going to pass this year. Doubt the booster vaccs will be that far advanced by then and being 6 months+ away from my second vacc already I am playing the prudent card this Autumn.

Sister and I haven't been for a while, we felt it got very expensive for what is essentially a shopping day. We have decided that we won't be going anywhere with crowds indoors, so no HOYS for us this year, either.

I have decided not to go because of the Covid situation. Absolutely no chance to social distance in those halls and people will be touching everything without any hand sanitising going on. Bit of a C19 explosion waiting to happen and although I should have just had my booster having seen my neighbour yesterday who is double jabbed and caught it off her children I would rather not get it. Plus it’s expensive and I don’t actually need anything this year.

In recent years I went for the demos not the shopping. Back when it was the British Equine Event there used to be all sorts of mad offers, more recently not so much.
But I figure I’d pay £££ for lessons or demos so £40-ish for a day of demos with some window shopping thrown in is more interesting/feasible.
That said I don’t fancy it this year with covid doing the rounds still.

That's how I see it too

I usually get a Standard Plus ticket for one end of the day & and watch every main demo. Then there's always a demo or two at least to watch in the other arena.

I've never gone solely for the shopping - it's just a nice add on, for me. One year I was so busy with the demo's and rescue village, I only walked through one of the shopping hall's to get to the second arena and bought nothing at all :D

I have booked, but only cheapest tickets, as usually watch demo's in the smaller arena, and have a look around stalls. I do understand many of your concerns, but as the other arena isn't as popular I can come and go as I feel fit depending on numbers. Intend to arrive early as always before it gets packed, and as I'm not spending much on the ticket, won't feel beholden to stay if I feel uneasy.

Not interested in it this year with Covid, dont fancy being with lots of people from all over the Country inside and close together. I dont need anything either and its not always as cheap as it used to be anymore.

£40-ish for AM or PM demos; if it was a guaranteed seat all day I'd be more open minded :)

Hi just posted a thread on YHL and if it’s worth going as my niece is debating if it’s worth going for the shopping . I have posted what she wants to get so she wondering if it’s worth going

They have apparently reduced the numbers allowed this year, you also have to show proof of covid vac or negative lateral flow so guess it should be safer. Saturday is sold out. wonder if there will be as many stands this year.

Just as well you mentioned that as I hadn't read the information on the ticket, so probably wouldn't have had vaccine card with me. Thank you

Im assuming the vac card would be ok but they are saying the nhs covid pass you get on your phone.
See what you mean. I don't think vaccine card will do, so I'm going to go with lateral flow test as do them twice a week anyway, so will just make it a day later than normal to make sure within 48hours.

Will be interesting to know if they actually do check. I went to the theatre recently in London and they were only checking a few people now and then. I also flew from Guernsey into Southampton airport after a short break and wasn’t required to show any vaccine status.

Has everybody received their tickets for Saturday yet. We are still waiting and can't get through to anyone to check.

Thanks

No and I leave tomorrow night as I am going to a friends a few night This week and won’t be coming home !

Also so I am now going all 3 days because my niece decided last minute she wanted to come a day but Saturday was full booked ! So she’s convinced me to do another day . Is there enough to do for 3 entire days ?

That's cutting it a bit fine. Just checked the website and our tickets haven't been marked as despatched.
