Hi all,

I’m going to your horse live on the Saturday, but worried the sales and stands would’ve been raided by then (I’m planning on getting lots of Christmas shopping done). If anyone has been on a Saturday, are there still any good sales?

Half tempted to buy a Friday ticket just for shopping and go twice ?

Was really lucky to compete there in the showing finals last year. Normally go most years but my shopping friend couldn‘t make it so not there this year. Hope everyone has good time.

I am not going for first time in years. Just lazy organising as same demos for last 3 years and the ones on the Friday are particularly bad. They are not even using the decent D&H riders….. who have a tonne of very good riders who do very good demos. Lee Pearson/Natasha Baker last year was dreadful as they just ad hock their way through it. The seating thing this year annoys me and it’s all just become a bit shit from how good it used to be. The demos in arena 2 used to be great surprises with some good ones from Ben Hobday, Jay Halim etc in the past but even these look dull.

The fact that half the day is taken over with showing also annoys me as not what I have paid to see and is a cheap bolt on for the lazy organisers.

It’s too busy now. If you pay for the basic tickets there’s not much point trying to see the demos unless you want to queue for ages - so it’s £68 for a family to pay to go shopping…

Friday tickets have reserved seats all day and as I’ve not seen any of the demos for about 8 years I’m looking forward to them. With a knackered back it is also a chance for me to sit down between going around the stands. I’m taking a friend who has never been before so I do hope it’s better than people are predicting.

I tend to agree that it used to be better, value definitely. I've been the majority of years. Used to spend morning in the main arena and then go over to second with shopping in between, but since they started charging more for main arena, I stayed at second arena as there were some good demos over there. I'm just not bothered about it this year. Haven't got money to splash about anyway. I mainly went for the demo's, staying for the evening performances if I was interested in them.

I am going but this year but really have no interest in the demos as I have seen them all before, Not keen on Oli Townend or Geoff Billington anyway and have seen Charlotte several times at yhl before so not bothered about watching her. The other demos I have either seen before or not interested in. I am mainly going for shopping and even that has not been great in recent years. I am pretty much only going as my friend wants to go and its fairly local.

Really feel they need to up their game on demos etc as people will just not go to see the same old thing year after year. I have a feeling it will be quieter this year anyway.

It doesn’t seem as well received online this year. I couldn’t attend last year but there was a more active response on social media about people going (possibly just post covid itching to go out). Lot of people on Facebook seemed annoyed about the ticket prices this year (I believe reserved Saturday PM was £45 when I purchased) and the show map is apparently smaller than last year.

I’m mostly just looking forward to a few shopping deals and I’ve not seen the demos before so at least it’ll be new. I went to HOYs for the first time this year and was pretty disappointed in that, so hoping the YHL shopping will make up for it.

My choice of events has always been Badminton, YHL, Gatcombe and Olympia. I don’t have any time for showing so HOYS is a waste of money and the sjing is uk 2* which doesn’t really interest me vs Olympia which has 5*. I think it might be first time I haven’t gone to YHL excluding covid for 8 years ?.
Just going to wait for Black Friday instead for shopping deals.

Question from a not very technical person re tickets. I have the link to my tickets which are download or print. I don’t have a printer so I have to do a PDF instead which is fine but how do I save them and where. I have an IPhone and can take a screenshot and if I do can they scan the barcode on the photo at the entrance or will I need to download the whole thing again when I arrive.

You’ll be ok to show them a screenshot of the barcode/QR, no need to download it again at the event. Every transaction has a confirmation code anyway, so I would assume they could find you in their database if the QR code was unable to work for whatever reason ?

I’d love to go to the london international horse show, I just hate how close it is to Christmas and can’t risk getting covid/flu considering the age and health conditions of some family members. Maybe one year!

If you’re into Lemieux at all, they always have a massive sale just after Christmas. I believe it’s on either Boxing Day or NYE. Some years they don’t mention when it will start so it’s much better than Black Friday (their website becomes inundated and half your orders get cancelled).

And if you want some deals leading up to Christmas hope valley saddlery do an advent calendar of deals. They usually get released at midnight so it’s good to check which ones you’re interested in and stay up for them. They’re usually gone by early morning!

it's my first time visiting and boring practical question... clothing? Hat and gloves kind of place? Or will we be pretty warm once inside? :-)

The event is held in big industrial units so I wouldn't say they are either warm or cold. I do struggle with my Raynauds in there but that is because if it is cold enough for my fingers to go then the units aren't warm enough to bring the blood back.

However, if you have a normal circulatory system, I wouldn't say that you'd need a hat and gloves. All the people milling about inside add enough warmth to make it perfectly fine.

That said, I would suggest bringing a lightweight jumper as it probably isn't warm enough just for a t-shirt. (Unless it is unseasonably warm outside them you might get away with it.)

Has everyone received their tickets? I’m going on Sunday but haven’t had mine yet

I received mine via email. Have you checked the website? Under FAQs - Ticket info there is a link for you to download tickets. Just enter the confirmation code from the booking email and your postcode.

I didn't receive hardcopies, presumably because we receive wristbands with the reserved seating when we show them our electronic tickets.
