Put her in a horse with a better body (un-broken!) that could do all I want and she would definitely be my horse of a lifetime!

Oh this would be ideal, that is the downside, my mare is older and a bit broken, i wish she was 10years younger, she is still, i believe my horse of a lifetime though

Ebi is my horse of a lifetime and Sasha was my mums.
mum bought Sasha after seeing her at the riding school we kept our first loan pony - she was extremely obese with rolls of fat down her neck, had a hogged mane that was growing out and generally looked and behaved awful, but mum fell in love with her and as soon as she asked if she could buy her they agreed (everyone at the RS hated her as she was such an awful pony)
We concentrated on getting her fit and over the years did everything with her from me hunting every week with her to my mum getting back on her to have her 1st ride after a serious fall resulting in her leg being pinned and plated together. She taught a few of my friends to ride and was the perfect school mistress. Sasha was perfect, stayed with us 13years and lived her days out with us till the inevitable happened on 23.08.07 when she had to be PTS. miss her everyday.

i knew Ebi was the horse for me as soon as we looked at her. we turned up to look at a just backed 3 year old. my friend (her old owner) called her up the field, she came cantering over, stopped right where i was stood, liked me then took a polo from my hand. i found out after everyone else who had been to see her she had cantered up teeth bearing, spun round kicked out at them then buggered off down the field refusing to be caught

Star is my horse of a lifetime, simply because she's the only horse I'm going to get in my lifetime.

She's a madam, You have to stand your corner with her because she WILL try to bully you and walk all over you. I was scared of her, and she was up for sale but I couldn't sell her in the state she was in (psychological and schooling wise) The more I've done with her, the more I've learned about her and myself and I love her to bits.
Last night I went out into the fields and we did what we call 'schooling' and then we cantered up the side of the big field - and we cantered - not pull, grab, argue or strop. And it was the best moment of my riding life because that was what I had worked for so long.

She has a serious medical history (cancer, tendons.....) and is probably unsellable because of it. But she'll never be for sale.

I dont know, it depends on what you consider your horse of a lifetime... I have 2 horses just now who are incredibly special to me but for different reasons: 1 was very green when I bought him and I like to think we brought each other on to now be doing our first CIC* and 1.20 BSJA which I never thought Id do - I dont think Ill ever find another horse like him who's so honest and who I trust completely. Then the other horse I have is just so lovable, we've had so many arguements over the years and sometimes we hate each other but there's times I have with him where I can just tell he loves me to pieces! How sad is that! Its got quite bad though, I've been thinking of selling him... but he seriously tests new people to the point my mum know thinks hes "a one-woman horse" - lol! And he will be THE hardest horse Ive ever had to sell as he means so much to me.

Yes, without a doubt

Ellie is so special to me, I often wonder how I will ever begin to try and replace her when she's gone

I have shared nine wonderful years with her so far, and every time I get on her back she still manages to find a way to surprise me

She took some searching for - but it was worth every minute and every mile

I am very lucky in that I have found both my pony and horse of a lifetime. I met Savannah 11 years ago, when I started riding her owners other pony. Savannah was put up for sale, at which point my Mum said no way was I riding her as she was crazy... so I started riding her without telling parents, fell completely in love and begged my parents to buy her. It killed me when I used to take her to shows and people would come up to enquire about buying her, and I will admit to winding her up a bit! In the end, my Mum relented and Savannah was my 12th birthday present! She is still with me 9 years later, and will be til the end of her days.

It wasn't quite love at first sight with Murphy. At the time, I didn't want a horse, I just wanted a slightly bigger version of Savannah, and so nothing was ever really going to measure up to her. We only went to see him because Mum happened to spot his advert on horsequest, and it was a local contact number (like 5 mins down the road). So we went to see him and my first thought was that he was too chunky, but he was nice to ride so went to try him again. He buggered off with me, bucked a few times, but also jumped anything I pointed him at, and had that spark that Savannah had, so I bought him while praying that with a stronger bit I would have some control. Nearly 6 years later, and he is well and truly my horse of a lifetime. He is lazy, greedy, has a serious attitude problem and throws major tantrums, yet he is everything I could want in a horse. When he retires in a few years time, he will join Savannah in the field and live out the rest of his years in peace.

Can you have 2 horses of a lifetime?

I am very lucky and have had 2!
Rocky my big ID/Shire X TB was a superstar in every way and I didn't appreciate how good he was until I sold him. He was jumping BN and Discovery as a 4 yr old and could have made a fab eventer if only I had realised at the time! He was far too big for me tho and at 17.1hh and built like a tank he was very much a mans horse and I sold him to the MFH of the Surry Union.
I got Axel a few years later and realised I had something special straight away, by then dressage was my thing and he has done everything I have asked of him and more, with a few problems along the way but the best ones are always a bit quirky lol!

Been and gone sadly.

Bay arab mare. She belonged to a race yard I worked at, I nursed her through a track leg injury and then through colic and surgery. Bought her for pennies in foal.
Cracking little horse, a truly gentle animal yet had a neck and a voice like a stallion. She hated schooling, didn't like racing either, didn't much like jumping or showing, so by some standards was useless. Not by mine, or her fan club at the yard either.
Sad, sad day when some shite of a randy hrse decided to run her through a fence and a bog and do God only knows what damage to her legs, she was never right afterwards, the light just went out, way too many years before it should have.
I know I shouldn't, because horses are only being horses (and I don't usually do hate) but I'll hate the horse that, in effect, killed mine until the day he dies.
