Your horses pet hates?!

Sun cream on the nose as well. He gets in a proper sulk and won't even accept treats in apology. Last time I tried poking one in the side of his mouth in case the cream was disguising the smell and he really would want it once he knew what it was, but no - he just spat it back at me!

Anything new.we put her new 6'9" rugs on our old 14.2 pony to get them worn in.if I wear new gloves she goes nuts.sometimes just gloves in general.but it is sad to see shiny new things needing to get dirtied to be used!

Short Stuff hates..
-Carrier bags.
-Pigs (walked through pig farm, couldn't see them but smell lead to spinning on the spot).
-Being tacked up - but loves being ridden.
-Riding into rain/snow or snow landing on her ears while riding.
-Being bathed - not because she's scared of water but because she hates being clean.
-Suncream & anything in a spray bottle.
-Other horses.
-Being asked to stand still when being ridden.
-Being told "no" ;)
-Being fussed over when she's not in the mood.
-Long Legs. Well, she "hates" her, pulls faces & shoos

Long Legs hates..
-Being tacked up - but loves being ridden.
-Being ignored - she loves attention.
-Having her face groomed/checked, being held down by her head & having her bit in (not headshy though).
-Being hosed down (as though she's being punished after behaving to ride!).
-Short Stuff being taken away.
-Collies.

But overall, LL has far less issues than SS, although SS has calmed down A LOT these past 3 years. But LL was easier to teach from the off, SS took years to stop the "flight" reaction long enough to stand a chance of explaining that not everything (including her own shadow) wanted to eat her :p

Rain, riding in it or generally being out in it, she's a fussy old lady!

Speaking of agressive Shetlands, my mums smallest mini, Rufus, all of 28 inches tall, grabbed her 15.3 gelding Murphy by the throat at the weekend and was dangling with his front legs hanging, according to my 2 1/2 yo daughter, who witnessed (with my mum) this horrible attack. Poor old Murphy didn't know what do, luckily he wasn't seriously hurt.

Another who's 'beloved' loathes sun block on the nose .......

Manhole covers are to be avoided at all costs, regardless of pace (trot's the best - get's more reaction from the stoopid hoomin!)! :o

And doesn't see the point of an empty feed bucket cluttering up the stable - literally throws it over the door when dinner's done!

If you know of Chatterhappy Ponies, apparently this is what Daisy did one time to another much larger mare when the were all turned out

Apparently Strop was the only nice one of the four, go figure

Being sponged down O.o
Fine with being hosed off...I can just spray water anywhere on him and he doesn't care...but bucket and sponge, or even just damn sponge and he takes offence xD

Im sure if you watch one of the episodes of chatterhappy ponies, they're in some woods and the camera is focusing on two ponies but in the background you can see that little grey pony broncing with the kid onboard :D

Mine hates clippers, they don't even have to be turned on. He can spot them from about 3 miles away!

Nothingness! She has a habit of staring into space looking petrified. Can I EVER see what it is that's bothering her?!! Very very rarely! Myself and Mileaminute actually call this 'nothingness' 'Ghostie' now. If it's in one particular area of a field, it's the Ghostie corner. She has a Ghostie corner in every single paddock (they all change as they are electric fencing, yet she still always finds Ghostie in each one). If she doesn't bother one day, we say that Ghostie must have gone out! :o:rolleyes:

She hates having any creams/lotions put on her legs if she has a teeny weeny cut/scrape/pin prick! As soon as I enter the stable and take the lid off she runs to the back of the stable looking like I am about to saw her legs off one by one. It took me, Mileaminute, another girl, and a vet nurse to hold her still whilst the vet simply bandaged her leg after she got a superficial cut from falling over once! Yet she will have stable bandages on no problem (because of course IT'S DIFFERENT!).

Wind/rain. She cannot tolerate it whatsoever whilst being ridden (or during any inhand show). If she is grazing in the field she doesn't tend to worry too much, but of course if the activity is somewhat boring, then it becomes a whole big worry for her. She dances around, throws her head into her chest and tilts it extremely dramatically away from the rain. Tries to spin her bum into it and generally just becomes a pain in the backside!

Oh the list could go on..(and I wanted a low maintenance horse)

Pigs, pigs, pigs and more pigs. We've got this huge great flabby thing up the road which flops out in the gateway - when it sees people it things Oh Goody FOOOOOD.... and then shifts itself out of its comatose state and shuffles up to the gate and sticks its nose out for food, grunting and puffing loudly.

At which point every horse in the district says no thanks and legs it.

Blimmin things, they're a nightmare.

Cows! There was some cows in a field twice where we hack past regularly and now she if it an eye balling every time we pass -.-

And she isn't sure what to make of little children, we were out hacking with my friend and her connie. A little girl with her dad was stood looking at the horses, friends pony pottered on and but Belle stood and stared at this little girl (about 3/4 years old) like she had never seen one lol odd mare :-P

Another sunblock hater but what's really funny is her annoyance when ridden to her forelock and top of her mane hitting her ears. You'd think headskaking except this only when ridden and when I braid the forelock and 2 braids in her mane she does not do it. I've lost count of oddball things I try to see what she thinks.

Bella's list of hate:
-getting hot
-getting bathed
-getting ridden
-being fussed
-being with Milton
-being without Milton
-Being rugged
-being in a stable
-meeting other horses
-me/Milton meeting other horses

She's a sweetie really!

Finn- Any other horses being friends with Summer, he's protective of her!
- Cantering behind another horse, he tolerates it but hates it! something
- Being kept in all night / day, he likes his space to roam.
- Things blowing in the wind in his face, has a real girly fit at rain and
blossom etc!
- Whips when ridden, he absolutely freaks out, fine with lunging whip
- Having his legs clipped, has to be twitched

Summer - New jumps, if she's not seen it before (or refused it 3 times) she
won't jump it.
- Rain and snow
- My friend, I have no idea why.

Oscar- Not too fond of having his ears trimmed but that's about it, he loves
most things!

Harvey- Everything. apart from food..

Vets! She does not like V.E.T.S
If you are lucky to survive a vet visit, then you won't survive the mane pull.
(I don't bother pulling, and haven't done for years, but even think about it, and you're dead).

Pony doesn't really approve of hoof oil, - she tap dances away from you when you try!
And suncream on nose! Did you know 12.2 can morph into 17h, on speed, backwards??

- Being clipped
- Being bathed (especially with cold water or a hose pipe!)
- Having his mane pulled
- Being out in the rain
- Fly spray
- Being kicked on! If I kick him too hard rather than squeeze he will show his unappreciation with a big buck! :p

Sheep and chickens in fields beside the road where we walk

I wouldn't mind but we have 14 sheep and around 150 chickens at home in the field where he lives!

Ah, but those will be different sheep:D
Oz hates and fears different sheep, especially when they grow horns

Hoof boots. She is so quiet I could happily strap a big yellow bucket to her foot if I wanted to, but if she sees a neat little black hoof boot she freaks.

Shmoo I must have bought that pony. He's 9 hands and will take on a 18hander no problem!

Mine hates puddles. I've deliberately done circles around a large puddle, walking through it myself to show it's fine to lead him through but he'll have none of it.
He also hates it if he's in the stable when I turn up at the yard and it looks like I'm going to walk past without saying hello first. If he suspects I will, he'll kick the door until I give him some attention - little wotsit!

Mine hates things that are painted yellow. Not yellow things, flowers are fine, lines on the road are not. Go figure. Being grey she also hates being clean, a friend says it is her camo make up. She is also terrified of donkeys, but loves, loves, loves tiny ponies. Even the shetland colt that would bite all the "big horses" on the legs and then run off under the fence to safety :D
