Your Horse's/Pony's Hight change from 2 to adult

Just being nosey really, but was thinking about my two boys and if they will reach their expected heights.
Howie is a NF and stands at 12.3hh at 19months - I want him to be 13.2hh at adulthood.
Merlin is a Blagdon x Appaloosa is also 19months onls but is 13.1/4hh I want him to be 14hh at adulthood.

Shadow my last youngster was 14.2hh when I bought him but finished up at spot on 16hh at 6 years old.

I wondered what breed yours are and how much they grew from 2 to adulthood?
 
My highland was about 13.2 at 3 years old, 14 hands at 4 and is probably 14.1 now at nearly 5. Judging by his siblings (insofar as you can!) he has probably more or less finished, height wise, though he still has some filling out to do.
 
My mare was a huge 6 month old when i bought her - everyone inc vets thought she would make 17'2hh easily but she stopped growing at 16'1 ( Thankfully)!
 
i'm interested in this post 2 my knab x tb is just over 15hh at almost 20months i'm desperately hoping he'll make the 16hh mark i'm almost certain he will his mum was 15.2 or just over and his dad was 16.2hh so fingers crossed. x

Yours is exactly the same age and height as my Welsh X TB.
I am also hoping mine will make 16 hands!
 
I have a reg new forest pony. she is rising 8 now and full up 13.2hh. i got her aged 8 months and she was approx 11.2hh then. At 2 she was about 12.2hh. She was very weedy and baby looking for a long time though, she was slow to mature and only really lost her baby looks at about 6 1/2-7.
 
V4V who is your boy by?

My knab baby is by Faust who's only 15.3hh but at 2 1/2 hes just over 16hh, Im hoping he'll only grow another inch lol!
 
in the same boat as you too.. have posted about my 2yr old with varied answers. keeping everything crossed aswell

This is proving to be an interesting post...

I got Sammi when he was 3.5 years old, supposedly was 14.1hh (never measured him myself), he's now 16 and is 15.3hh. Don't know his breeding, the dealer classed him as a hunter type.

I bought Rox as a 10 month old colt measuring at 13.2hh when I got him. At 18 months old he measured 14.3hh, however this was done with tape, not a stick so I am not 100% definite on exact height. His mum was a French ex-racer measuring 16.2hh. His dad was a traditional coloured cob and covered Rox's mum when he was only 2years old himself, and he measured 14.3hh at that time (don't know what he measures now as a 4 year old).

The vets estimated Rox will make 16.1hh. Alot of showing judges thinks he will make bigger then 16.1hh. The equine dentist I use thinks 16hh maximum!

So I think it is safe to say.... it will be a wait and see game xx

i can only go by records on SJI, passport and now!
so when he was in Ireland he was 148cm, this was when he was 7 years old.
He then came to the UK and got his passport and was measured at 153cm, this was about 6 years ago.
he is now about 160cm aged 14 years! so he has grown and grown, and continues to do so

i measured him last winter and he was 15.2hh, hes now 15.3hh/16hh!
 
I'm very parinoid about my coblets height too and obsess about it

He was 13.1 when I got him at 18months old. He is now 2.5yr old and a smidgen off 14.2 at the bum. Front ends 14.1hh.

He's MEANT to make 15hh+ and i'm going to be upset if he doesn't make it!
 
Stinky was about 14 hands at 2, 14.2 at 3, just under 15 at 4 and will be 6 in July and is just under 15.1 with a lot of filling out to go. He is a gypsy cob.

Fleur my WB x Hann rather suprised me. I bought her at 5 1/2 and she was just under 16 hands. At 7 she was 16.3.

Farra seems not to grow much. She was 16.2 at 4 and is just under 16.3 at rising 6 and has not changed for the last 8 months. Only a little clydie though her mum was 18.1 and her dad 17.2 - but she had a bad start from weaning to 2 1/2 - left to be very thin and lice infested so I think this stunted her.

Humber is 9.2hh (ish) not actually used a measuring stick and he's 6 months old at the moment. I'm hoping he'll make 12hh but I guess it might be more like 11.2hh? He's grown in the two months I've had him though because he can get his nose over the stable door and the fence now.
