Does your horse have any quirks that stand him/her apart from other horses? My youngster is still very new to me, so I'm still finding his out but so far:

*He thinks sticks are toys to throw and chase after. He has been known to bring me sticks so I can thrown them for him.

* He eats standing on three legs. Not resting on three legs, but holding one fore leg at a time up near his chest.

* He has a phobia of fake sheepskin.

* He always sleeps flat out in his stable.

What makes your horse different?

My TB also waves a leg around when he eats!

When the ground is dry he likes to tip his feed out of the bucket and eat it off the floor.

In the stable he will go right up to the wall before he rolls (so never manages to get right over

)

Often when I'm walking out of the field in a morning after checking him he'll walk along behind me with his head in my back pushing me along.

There's probably more as well - he's an odd lad! My sister's ponies are more normal but they both have their little quirks too - I think they all do!

I think all 3 of mine are quirky mainly for loving me so much - you wouldnt believe how much they play up when other people do them! my spotty pony is just naughty!!!! will get in the tack room, upturn the feed if he can, empty the bin, stand in it...out riding if not on lead rein and has experienced person on him he will try and go up any banks and verges just to annoy them...although only 12.3hh is the boss of my other 2 who are 15.3hh and 16.1hh.
My TB ex racer can load brilliantly but will get this look on his face like he is laughing at you and makes you push him up the ramp. Tips his food on the floor he throws his food bucket and anything else lying around, wont eat polos only extra strong mints or meadow herb treats, licks his reflection if he is ridden in an indoor school with mirrors, chucks his stable ball around and nearly knocks himself out with it and then looks as if to say "who did that?" tells you where he is itchy and demands to be scratched....and now I am pregnant he rubs his face on my bump! My mare has obviously been mistreated in the past and we bought her to rescue her (suckers I know) hates being rugged up as trashed her rug last year and had it caught round her foot and was running round the field with it and it was hitting her on the rump so now wont go near any rug on the floor! is the biggest and oldest out of my 3 yet lets to boys get away with murder, is quite hot to ride yet will happily plod about with my 6 year old on her just making sure I am still here.

Frankie will not bat an eyelid when the red arrows take off over our head ( i hate it! ) but will spook at a leaf, or shadows of himself

he chews his leadrope when im leading him, so he's 'taking himself to the field'

i love it when i let him go in the field he squeaks!

My mare will take her head collar and lead rope of the hook outside his door and drag it in her stable nearly every night. We are still waiting for the novelty to wear off!

My other one will not let anyone pass his stable without giving him attention/ food! He will sulk if they dont.

My four year old, well havent had him long enough to know yet!

My horse chucks his head collor at me in the mornings telling me to hurry up and get him out.....Oh and he backs right up in his stable and runs at the door when im making his dinner.

And he rears to get out of everything he doesnt want to do.

when my little Sec A is irritated by summat you have done/not done quite right she throws her head in circles and stamps her feet to show you she's annoyed with you

very bossy

she also is a very verbal pony and constantly calls to anyone or any thing to get attention - she even wickers when grazing to you which is sooo cute

Governor comes up with new ways to get my attention (particularly if tied up outside his stable when I muck out). His last 'thing' was grabbing the rope of his salt lick (one of these pink rock ones) and pulling it up so the rock hit the metal bars and makes sufficient noise before dropping it again.

Yesterday he took the majority of his rugs of the rug bar outside his stabke and dumped them on the floor. That didnt get enough attention so he then started rubbing his teeth up and down the foam riser pad which was also on the bar which made a sound not unlike someone running their finger down a rubber balloon. His final trick was standing his head stretched out, looking like a moose and smacking his lips together for about 3 minutes making a rather amusing noise/face.

Sid throws stable balls with amazing accuracy - usually at me

Tips his food on the floor out of his bucket
Stands on three legs to eat whilst swapping the one he's waving about occasionally. Remove his carrots from his food, puts them to one side and has them afterwards.

Chucks his headcollar across the barn if he thinks you're late.
Wants to hold his lead rope with you whilst we walk out to the field. Undoes his lead rope if tied up anywhere and stands there looking at you with a "aren't I clever" expression.

Now apparently won't go out in the morning without snogging the stable cat first

He's very "special"

will play fetch

squeals frequently, when excited, angry, being fiesty, I've never met such a vocal horse

limbos under electric fence tape if you don't turn it on

jumps off banks for fun when loose

One of mine picks things up off the hooks outside her stable and throws them on the floor if you ignore her. She also loves picking up whips by the knob at the top between her front teeth and moves her jaw so it swings up and down - hard to explain but v funny to watch!!

She stretches like a cat - bum in the air and front legs way out in front. When she is in season she will turn and bite my feet when I'm riding! She knows who in the yard carries nice treats in their pockets and will drag me over to these 'sources' so she can mug them.
