Hehe so what it says in the title really.

What is your ideal of the perfect horse?

Mine is one that will just tell me when something's wrong and that could crack a good joke every now and again
But in all honesty if my 3 could talk, they would be the perfect horses!

I misspelt "Idea" in the post title and I don't know to the correct it, swell.

This 'oss but without the grey gene, so that she would still be chestnut. ;)

A talented horse but with something a bit different about it.
There is very few things I would change about my spotty pony. He has amazing paces I could watch all day, he is soooo comfy to ride, he is hardly ever naughty, he isn't spooky and is very sensible, he makes me laugh and couldn't hurt a fly.

IT'S SO FUZZY I'M GONNA DIE.
But I'd never expect a fuzzy little chestnut to come out grey

If you look at her foal photo, you can see how she was starting to go grey around the eyes (it's typical for greys to get grey 'goggles' first before the rest of their coat greys out). She was pink for a while - drove me potty explaining to people that she wasn't strawberry roan. :p

haha same as above, my own horse is 99.9% perfect except from his colour. His frequent colour is annoyingly this...haha

Yes - mud colour. :D

My old pony started out as a chestnut filly and turned grey as she got older. She is now completely 'white'.

My perfect horse is a horse that is the total opposite of perfect! I could fall asleep on anything that doesn't buck, jog about or be a general monkey head!

A grey that keeps itself clean. :)

He's lovely when he's like this:

ETA - I cross posted with the above posts as I was trying to get photobucket to play ball. Owners of greys unite!!

Thank god I have chestnuts and a bay! I'll upload pics now :)

If she was a Strawberry Roan I think I may of just had to steal her.

It's so lovely to see everyone sharing the love for their horses :D

A self-cleaning grey would be fab. :D

Photobucket has been very naughty recently and hardly ever does as it's told.

Love it - I have two greys. The one I posted above and a little Welshie that also peers over his door like your little one does. He's the most vocal of them all - and the naughtiest. :o:rolleyes:

My other one is a bay roan - perfect colouring - neither the mud nor the dust shows. :):p

My little bay is a Welshie and he has the most deafening neigh in the world! Must be a characteristic
Honestly when all the others are turned out and he's in his stable because he's a porker he drives the YO up the wall because he neighs so loud and so much it gives her a headache, Oops.
I'm lucky to have a Liver Chestnut which never ever lies down and doesn't require that much grooming. And then I have a very bright ginger chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail who's always covered in poo stains :o

That is one cute pony! :D

- And a naughty pony ;)

My perfect horse would be fit and healthy with no health issues at all. Behaviour I can cope with, mine is a pain to catch when he wants to be, hard to mount and hard work in the school but I love him to bits! How would I make him perfect? Change his feet :D

Mines outside as we speak :)

I wouldnt change a single thing about him- he's been nothing but loving, faithful, patient and forgiving. Never bitten or showed me any bad temper, never really been ill/injured taught both me and my kids to ride and is as lively at 34 as he was at 6 years old- even if he isnt quite as flexible!

the only thing I would change is the ability to turn back time and do it all over again :)

Agree.

I used to have beautifully trained quarter horses, they were about as exciting to ride as a hobby horse :(

Give me my 23 year old (equally as well trained) 14h stick insect of an arab anyday, she isn't an automaton and is FUN. I was fond of the others but really, I hated riding them, which is why, with the exception of one, I sold them all.

awwww, know what you mean.

Although only had my mare 8 years, but she is perfect in every way. Just started riding her again this week,( after her having a foal), and she was fab, Didnt put a hoof wrong, even when the foal came galloping across the field to see what mum was doing.

So ideal to me has to be a 15.2 short legged chestnut mare IDxTB:)

Oh yes, i think i recall you writing about a foal- how lovely/exciting!! And what a nice feeling it must be to get back on your mare too! :)

This one is turning out to be quite perfect, apart from the colour  She's easy to handle, loves to be around people, wants to please and still has some spark about her.

It felt fantastic, she was so calm, just as if she hadnt had a break.

Her foal is a mirror image, as my ole dad says ' you couldnt make a better one if you tried'

I hope they both last as long as yours x

'my' TBxID is almost my perfect horse. I'd probably have her at half her age though (she's 15 now) and with better feet. Id consider the wings and the horn on its forehead the trade off for having good feet as a TBxID!

My lad I lost in May was my perfect horse.. Purebred CB, very much his own person and as far as two vastly species can, we worshipped the ground each other walked on and I'm devastated he's gone.. I thought we'd have much longer together..

I have hopes for my two year old CB.. I see a lot of my big lad in him, similar fire and personality..

I have several other horses, don't get me wrong I love them all equally but they will never be him..

Mine. She's old, too small, & outgrown ability wise. But completely & utterly perfect & wouldn't change her for anything. If I could, I'd make her young and 2 or 3 hands bigger, then I wouldn't have had striding issues. But I wouldn't swop her for the entire Olympic squad. And she's another grey!

My pony I lost last month was perfect - genuine, always wanted to please, she had a quirky character and best of all she was coloured! Only thing I would change would have been to have more time with her - 17 was far too young.

Those os you wishing you didn't have greys... Just think about the days you spruce them up and they are super clean - there aren't a lot of colours as nice as a grey when they are made to look beautiful!

:)
