your joking, right?

15.2 still isn't very big. As I said previously when we were looking we looked at a horse within our budget because he was 15hh his siblings sold for 20k just because they were 16.2 or above.

It's great for short people like me as I can get a nice horse for less money. :p

ps lol watch the prices in horse an hound lol - you want a good horse good breeding etc you pay - lol £120K last few weeks so thats peanuts hun :)

yes, just found that - its 14y/o 4* event horse AKA proven AKA worth it:D its still big bucks for that though isnt it

i know, will go and cheack on be website at the other 4* for sale:D

He looks a bit mature for 3, very well developed, I'd expect it to look young but he could pass for a 5 - 6 year old if you didn't know

Prices can be insane!

I've just found an advert for a 2yo belgian warmblood for- I kid you not- £20,000!

Or how about a 3 month old KWPN for £3,000..?

I guess here you're paying for the breeding..

on everything there, i think you might be correct:rolleyes:. think of how much Totilas' foals went for! all i know, is that the covering cost 4k!!!!

all i can say is, the money problems cant come to some people - if they're up for that, they've got to be selling

It does seem a lot of money for what is essentially flesh and blood and can break/go wrong easily but I guess thats the risk you take if you want a horse that can potentially go all teh way

While I fully appreciate that young warmbloods can go for big prices (and have myself ridden a 2 yo TB that cost $500,000), they will be the exceptional ones from top
Continental studs with proven competitive records allied to the family and the latest fashionable stallion or proven top sire, either produced to a top sale or sold beforehand. If its that good, it wouldn't need to go on the open market. For the general, open market, I'd be looking for some competition record. 3 is an awkward age to sell such a horse at, and its in the UK too...

Saying that, its a lovely animal and appears to have a nice loose jumping technique, but then so do so many. You could equally pay around the 4k mark for a similar horse, but there will probably be buyers out there who will be happier buying a horse produced and marketed in such a way for such a price.

i was thinking that too! if it was 4or5 someone would probably pay that because he had a competition record. but he might just be like that at home, he might go banannas at a show

Who is actually paying these prices for horses? especially youngsters that you could spend loads buying then have a huge risk of losing everything from common injurys and things. I think id rather buy something proven. i used to ride a point-point racer which as a yearling was bought for $875,000 and hated his job and was one of the worst racers ive rode bless him  got sold as a riding horse after. just shows someone wasted alot of money.

i guess its a bit like the old showjumper boomerang - one of the best horses that was ridden in a hackamore.

eddie macken(rider) was given the horse 'until you find a better one' as the owner said. but he won 250k with eddie, which was ALOT in those days. and then he suddenly went lame when they were skooling at home. these things just happen
