Your methods!!

Hi, what are your methods for a leaner??
a horse that is heavy on the bit..i have always taken and given the reins with a bit of leg, what do you all do?
wanted to know if another way was more ffective?!?!?!

If giving and taking fails...try a spell in a waterford...mine was in a waterford for about 6 weeks...intense schoolking in this and she was quite hapilly dressaging in her french link

Thanks, i was thinking a hanging cheek snaffle??
giving and retaking is helping slightly however she jst backs off and then proceeds to lean, i dont want my hands to be too active which they are at the moment with this method so any more methods welcome

i used to ride a horse that always did that, i used to just send him a lot more forward and be gentler with my hands...sounds simple but it worked for me!

Dropping the reins and taking them back, also coming to a halt - count to 5 then into trot for a few strides then halt again - 1 lap of school on both reins, leg yeilding also works well for me
