Your OH's and dogs!

We currently have posts on what dogs we all like......do your OH's have a favourite breed or a breed type they have always wanted, but you have never had?

My OH has always owned and worked lurchers, his favourite are saluki types (he loves their sleekness)

and lurchers of the hairy variety, deerhound types.....he has always wanted a wolf hound(we have a deerhound) close enough for me

and recently said when we lose our akita he would like an akita puppy to train from scratch.....which suprised me)

My hubby would say he likes "real dogs". As he's a farmer he means working collies. He never did much care for Jasper, my old Cocker (I had him before we met) as he thought he was stupid (can't really argue that as being entirely inaccurate come to think of it).

However, he cried as much as I did when Jasper died and begged the vet to try something else before he was put to sleep. I was strangely surprised that he was as keen as me to replace Jasper with another Cocker when I brought the subject up. He was as excited a child with a toy when I brought Harvey home too (and sulked like a child because he was unable to come with me to collect him!)

That said, he does think Harvey is far more intelligent than Jasper. I think that's "father's pride". Jasper was my baby.....but as I do most things with Harvey, it's fair to say he sees me as his leader/handler/owner anyway and would definitely run to me if we were both to shout his name.

I think men often surprise us!
 
Mine loves border collies (so works well with him getting me beau)
He used to have an old red setter who was PTS and he loves them.
He also used to have a heinz 57.

He is just an overall doggy dude and will pretty much take them as they come,

but he does also have a soft spot for jack russells! (so long as they are well behaved!

OH wouldn't let me have a dog for ages and only caved by saying it had to be a husky or similar - he likes 'wolfy' dogs.

Muggins here was so desperate for one I went along with the idea. She is bloody hard work.

For the record, I wanted a spangle or a rottie. I know spaniels have a tendency towards selective hearing but their recall is at least better than a husky!

OH chose our mix Willie (the 65lb hound/lab/spaniel/collie/whatever mix). I chose our beagles because I like hounds. Not sure what else he would like - he refuses to discuss other dogs in case I think he approves of us getting a fourth ...

OH never had a dog before we met, didn't grow up around them or anything but always wanted one apparently!
Then when we met he took on my 2 Patterdale Terriers

G likes Rotties. Now you understand why we have 2!! I love them too but not until we got our first one and I grew to love them from there. For me it is ridgebacks all the way.
 
OH never had a dog as a kid either and always wanted one. He had a particular thing for a GSD which i have a bit of a fear of....bit of gentle persuasion and lots of walking of my folks lab and mates working cocker then he considered a lab and a spangle until he found an advert for 2 spangles needing a rehome together and that was it, we now have a springer and a sprocker

Lurchers!

Hence, we have four.

One day, I went out and bought myself a Border Terrier without informing him. On his return home from work he sensibly didn't object, but he loves Sturdy just as much as he does the hounds now!
 
OH isn't really into dogs, which is why he thinks that his brother's old, overweight, lame, half blind, confused lab x is 'just fine'.
D, if you can read this, please listen to me, and get him to the vet

His favourite kind of dogs would have to be a nice lab or spaniel, he does like GSD's too mind, otherwise I would have to kill him
