Your opinions on this horse for a novice please....

If he is everything described, he sounds perfect for a nervous novice.
The only thing I would say is that he is very cheap if he is all he says, horses like that are usually a lot more expensive.

seems lovely - although i'm always slightly wary of 'i'm selling on behalf of a friend'... saying that, i'm sure there are many grnuine people that sell like that.

anyhoo, i REALLY like the look of the horse, and he's well priced if he is so safe (imo)

I would be worried - it states selling on behalf of a friend...

Also do you want to do anything other than hack because the way the advert reads I would not expect it to be able to jump etc...

Look but keep your wits about you and take an experienced friend along too.. and I would want to speak to the owner..

On paper it sounds perfect.

Take an experienced friend with you to try, get it vetted and move quick. That type won't hang around for long at that price.

I really like the look of him, but for exactly the reasons mentioned, i.e. 'Selling on behalf of friend' and the fact he is so cheap (almost half the price of one I am going for a second look at), I am wary.

Also...
About a month ago, he was advertised as being 'Sold from the field' for considerably less money. I was told he had no tack as owner had sold it 2 days before.

This person says that she knows nothing about that, and yet it is the same phone number? All sounds dodgy, but still looks a very nice horse!

He looks like a nice stamp but I wonder why none of the photos have him actually doing something such as trotting or popping over a little jump. Take a friend with you and if you decide to buy make sure you have a 5 stage vetting.

VERY dodgy... but doesn't necessarily mean he's not a good horse (*ducks and runs for cover*)

He looks lovely, echo what everyone else said about taking an experienced friend if you go to see him

Just to add my Max was sold on behalf of a friend, and this made me wary. I nearly backed out of the sale even though i tried him twice and loved him

He turned out to be everything it said on the tin.....maybe i was just lucky, but in this case it turned out to be a very honest sale

Just don't rush in, try him more than once and don't forget the friend/instructor

Good luck

Hmmmmm mayde dodgy after all then, something not right at all

Even though their phone numbers are the same, or was she selling for the friend last time the horse was advertised too?
I'd still go to view the horse if I was you (with an experienced old hand too), and borrow the friends tack, does the yard have a school you can use also, just to check out his gaits and check he's not a psycho before you hack out?

Oh yes, I just did the same. I wonder when he was in Horse & Hound, as the ad says 5yr old, not 8yr old!

i think this *may* have been a different horse entirely as it was a different height?

all sounds a bit dodge-tastic to me... which is a shame as he looks fab!
