fed up of talking about broken horses so to cheer myself up apart from my 3, my perfect horse would be a 16hh , Ish dapple grey about 8 yrs old . easy straightforward, capable of elementary dressage and riding club stuff . fantastic to hack out and a mare. also it would never go lame and live forever . capable for daughter to ride and compete when she comes home but happy to be a mummys girl and tootle round the country side with me .
whats yours.

My mare is my perfect horse, that's why I still have her almost 19yrs on I suppose. She is perfect for me in every way and I would want something just like her again.

She is a 14.2hh Irish cob, i do love a nice hairy irish cob :D
Here she is

Sorry, I am a proud, gushing mummy :D

I too have my perfect horse right now, a flea bitten pure bred arab gelding. After 10 years together, with some lows but lots and lots of highs, we are still going strong. But for something completely different, I would have to say an appoloosa (preferably blanket spot) colt foal that would grow up to about 15.2 to take to lots more shows!

My perfect horse would be a mare about 14.2hh, beautifully dappled bay, with three white socks and a star. Sect D x TB, about 17 years old.
Very bolshy, opinionated, loves to throw her weight around, an absolute typical mare.
Loving, complicated, food orientated and fun to be with. Long mane and tail, brilliant with beginners but a complete and utter nutjob at times.

Oh wait......I already have her!!! :D :D :D :D

If I was to get another one in the future I think I'd like a leggy dark bay or chestnut ID gelding - I have a soft spot for big strong horses, so I think I'd like one to make about 16.3hh+ and to be able to bring on myself, with a lot of help! :)

my perfect horsetook me 37yrs to find - 12yr welsh d whose a stress head ( because of her past) going blind and rarely can be rdden but she as taught me so much about me as a person her trust is amazing and well she is my beautiful baby and has given me so much - she may never have graced the show ring but she is my horse of a life time :)

Aw, Moggy, you are a very beautiful pair :)

I have my dream horse, but v v sadly she is retired already (since age 8 :() I am hoping we can get her pregnant this Spring, and that she with give me a little one to follow in her footsteps :)

Captain is my perfect horse, but I would like to have had him since he was a baby and so he would not have been abused. He is such a sweetheart but is insecure and has issues with trust. I think he would still be an opinionated arrogant beggar but I would not want him any different, just 15 years younger.

debsflo - sorry to hijack your post, was it you who had the mare honey? that had a nasty injury from a cattle grid? Was thinking about her the otherday and wondered if she'd fully recovered now
xx

The staying sound and living forever thing sounds good :p

My two boys are perfect in their own special ways, I so wish the big fella was sound though, as he's really something special :) But destined to live out his days as a lawn mower!

Little fella is a star, honestly perfect for me, but he does have a few lumps and bumps, I wish that he was conformationally perfect :p But I wouldn't have them any other way! Apart from the soundness and living forever :o And it would be nice if big fella wasn't so crazy... Hmm ;)

Your perfect horse description is weird.... I have a 16hh ISH...grey....14 years old, but mentality of a 7 year old! Is a boy though.... Perfect to school (dressage PSG schooled), hack, can't do much jumping (both front suspensories injury a few years back) but has previously competed up to foxhunter. A 13 year old girl that keeps her current pony with us is growing rapidly and is making the move from a 13.2hh to a 16hh, perfect gentleman.

I love Bruce. But would LOVE LOVE LOVE him to be black :) I've always wanted a black horse. I just want a black Bruce. But Unicorn Bruce is just as awesome :D

AHHHH. i agree i adore my horses apart from the fact they are getting older and have health problems they are perfect and i wouldnt change them BUT daughter is off to uni soon and i have a dream of another horse that will be able to do all the things i want and more .

nikkimarriot your bruce is lovley as is rachs Twizzy .i do have a thing for proper horses and dapple greys are to die for..

My perfect horse would be a 17hh IDXfriesienxtb stunning black mare, a white star or stripe, with MW legs and sound forever. Easy to keep weight on and one of those incredibly loyal mares :) Id be able to go around a jump course of about 4'9 and have complete faith in her and not to mention gallop for miles and not worry about brakes/bucks etc. Would also love a horse with great balance and one thats very steady with their feet.

I have my practically perfect horse (though shes flaxen chestnut)...she just cant be ridden for a couple of years. Sob :(

like you Fany i wish I had my mare from weaning - her breeder is lovely - so she wouldnt have gone through the abuse she did. but her abuse - though made her stressful and wary and was horrific as made her the beuatiful giving mare she is - due to her sight it will be time to say good bye soon but I know the last 5 yrs have been the happiest for that mare and me - can you ask for more - i think not :) xx

Nikki I LOVE your grey. He is stunning. Reminds me of my girl before she started to lose her dapples :)

As a few people have said would love for us to have had our mare since a baby so that she did not have to suffer what she did as a youngster.
And for her to live forever, sound and happy would be amazing!!! xx

debsflo - thank you!

puppy - again, thank you!! :D

You wouldn't believe he was the darkest of dark dark dark iron greys when we first had him.

I can dream about my *ideal* black horse with his 4 white socks and pink nose all I want but at the end of the day.... I don't want anything other than Mr Bruce at the mo!!

My perfect horse would be a tbx, about 16.1hh, really nicely schooled, light in the mouth and off the leg, and a really bold, genuine, scopey jumper that could pop around 1.20 SJ courses without a bother but also jump a big hedge out hunting - but with manners and brakes!

Already got him.
16.2hh gray, taken me from novice dressage to preparing for GP. We came together when he was 4 and I was 12, and I had pretty much no clue. His first flying change was my first flying change, his first pirouette was my first pirouette, and I wouldn't change it for the world. He isn't an easy ride (in fact the grooms and working pupils hate riding him!) and his behavior isn't 100%, but I wouldn't change him for the world.
In the last 10 years I've gone from a dressage novice (competing on ponies at low levels) to president of the YR dressage committee, member of a bronze medal winning team and an FEI winner. Although these achievements are pretty cool, I'd give them up to in the future have another horse half as talented as he is. (You've got me all teary, I love my little man!)

Mine...though my TB lad maybe with a bit more jumping technique and my mare with slightly more brakes...if I could change anything lol! :)
