Hi everyone.

I'm considering getting the Isabel Werth Wintec dressage saddle for my horse and wanted to know how people find using it, how well the suede effect lasts on the synthetic saddle and how good the cair system and changeable gullets are etc.

Any views, thoughts and particularly experiences greatly received.

Thanks! :D

Absolutely adore my Isabel Werth Saddle. I have the new one, which is slight wider gullet and bigger panels that the old one and fits my horse so much better. It also has memory foam which gives the illusion of making you feel very held in place.

My only reservation is that I am not sure it will last forever. But I decided that as it was less than half the price of Option No 2 and by far my favourite for comfort of all the saddles I tried, that I would accept that I may have to buy another in 6 or 7 years time.

Sorry, but I don't like it at all. I find it 'locks' you in position and from there it is difficult to give the correct wieght aids. It makes the rider look very pretty but, for me, it is just too constricting. Much prefer the Bates Caprilli dressage saddle.

Having seen what they are made of on the inside and what they are held together with (a friend of mine is working with a saddler to design new saddles and they have taken apart many well-known saddles, including multiple Isabel Werths) I would steer well clear. PM me if you want more info!

I bought a brand new (old model) Isabell and my horse hated it. I found that the cair panels were like concrete so had them replaced with wool flocking. I could not believe the rubbish that was inside the cair panels! No wonder they were so hard. My horse is now comfortable in the saddle, but unfortunately I am not. It makes my hips ache really badly afterwards. I think it is better suited to shorter legs than I have and the seat size seems really small for what it measures.

Have got 3 of the older model and all our horses go well in them. The horses range from Novice to Inter I dressage. We use Cair and have had no problems although I do use a sheepskin half pad on one of my horses.

I am 5'8" and found I was better with the 18" rather than the 17.5" seat.

Yes, I think that is my problem. I am 5'10", I could have done with the 18 inch but it would have been too long on my short coupled TB.

I got one on recommendation, and found that although it fitted the horse well and did at first feel comfortable, it restricted my moving with the horse, you are glued in position. Could be good or bad depending I suppose. I noticed I was sitting on my erm "fork" and not my seatbones, and that I couldnt flex my back and so couldnt absorb the movement.

I had a 17" one, and felt it was too small, even though I usually have that size so they must come up small. I didnt think the fake suede would last very long with me either, and sold it easily enough just glad I didnt buy a new one as I would have lost a lot of money on it.

I have one with flock. Really like it. I've had it about 4 years and have done everything in it (it's even been out hunting much to everyones amusement lol). I use a soft brush over the equi suede regularly to keep it looking good.

It suits me and my horse :)

I like mine I have to admit and it has aged well. I find it comfortable to ride in and it does give me stickability on anything excitable.

I have one but it is the Bates leather one, still the same design though. I find it very comfortable, the adjustable knee blocks are great & are in two sizes allowing you to ride correctlt in comfort. The girth straps are adjustable aswell so you can alter it to suit your horse. I've had no problems with it, rides like an armchair once you have adjusted everything to suit your position & size. A lovely saddle.

I would never touch a saddle with cair, but I've sat in one and really liked it :D That said, I'm used to jumping saddles, and haven't really got any dressage saddles to compare it too :o
