Would appreciate your thoughts on possibilities of breed / type of the sire of my 15 month filly. Mum was a 12.1 bay new forest x rather plain. Dad we know nothing about. I bought the mare early last year in foal after she was rescued by someone else. I intended to keep the foal as a companion for another 2009 foal we had but have now trgically lost her. This filly, Maisie, is now very precious to me. At the moment she stands aprrox 13.1 i expect her to make around 14.2. She is quite fine, very little feather. Any thoughts on Dad? Sorry about the big pics don't know how to resize them.

That's just what I was thinking.. She looks very like my trotter. Do you know where mum was rescued from?
If it was gypsies then that is a very strong possibility:)

I dont think shes got fell in her we have them at work they are very compact in the body and there legs are quite alot shorter and also alot of feather. They only stand around 13-13.2 so if her mummy was only 12.2 she would be alot smaller. I think its the fact shes black thats deceiving us to think shes fell if she was another colour i dont think wed think fell at all.
This is my friends NFxTB and aside from the extra muscle as hes 15 there is quite a similarity so maybe shes a NFX with some TB in?:)

Replied to this in breeding, but she looks very very similar to a pony my friend bought some years ago, she was jet black out of a 13.2 jumping pony (native x) by a Welsh Sec D stallion, she made 14.2 and was stunning just like yours!

Good luck with her anyway.

Zoeloisem i think you are right about the Fell point her colour draws you to think so with the native like head too. I too think daddy was a cross, probably has a bit of tb and welsh.Very interesting to hear other peoples opinions. My next question is what classes would i get away with in hand. Do you think i would get way with partbred (unregistered)? Sports pony would be good but only ever seen one show with a class for them. Thoughts.

I have a couple of Fells and their heads aren't anything like that, although I do know some look similar.

As has been suggested I'd be thinking more along the lines of trotter/tb as she is quite fine.
