OH took all three dogs out in throughout rain today. Pups were on the lead as he approached the car park just in case they decided to run off, Brig was heeling, no lead.

A dog that attacked Zak last week stalked up to the dogs as OH was trying to find the car keys. He looked for the owner (no sign) so shouted at the dog to go away. The owner then appeared,so OH politely asked her to recall her dog so he could find the keys and put our lot in the car. She refused, saying that the dog is fine with others (!!). To be fair, it was her OH who was walking it last week when he went for Zak.

OH tried to insist she recall, saying Zak might not be Ok (other dog had major invasive surgery last month and she let him run free about two days after he got out of the RVC:eek:). She told him 'people like you shouldn't be allowed dogs and you shouldn't have an aggressive dog in the woods'. Zak was on the lead and has had one big fight ever (the one where I overreacted and posted about him being aggressive).

Am I being stupid thinking she ought to have recalled and not verbally attacked my OH? If it had been me, I'd have recalled my dog, simple.

Shes lucky your OH didnt just boot the blumming thing away from your under control dogs. If there had been a fight it would have been all her fault as hers was off lead (and she couldnt even see it) and yours were on lead..... silly moo!

ofcourse she was in the wrong.

this sort of thing is a bit of a bug bear for me at the moment as i walk for a few hours most days when work permits and i have one of those sorts of dogs that isnt always the most social with other dogs. she'll ignore them but if they come bounding up and start jumping all over her she's liable to snap at them. so if i see other dogs i keep her on the lead but the number of owners who think its ok to let their dogs bound up to a strange animal on a lead without asking and then I get it in the neck from them if my dog turns on theirs when she was just minding her own business before their pet mugged her!

i know you cant always know what dogs will do though but yes in this instance the owner certianly should have recalled her dog.

hope zak's ok after his experience getting attacked last week.

im afraid we just have to live with the fact some people you meet are just ignorant!

:o He didn't exactly lie down and cry! He knows how to look after himself, I had to yank him away, but fortunately he was on the lead and the dog's owner was sensible (OH of woman today) and told him to wait-dog did, so it will do as told.

It just so happens that the bloke is my next door neighbour's son. The neighbour looks after our lot who go and play with her GSD about three days a month. We spoke to her today and said what happened. She came in for coffee and cuddles with our three and told us not to worry. :)
