your yard niggles, what are they

People hanging about drinking tea, smoking and gossiping, watching the world go by from their clique.... and not bothering with their horses

This made me laugh ditto i know what you mean have quite a few on our yard that do that!!! Wish i had the luxury :o to have 5 mins to drink a cuppa, I normally drink my tea whilst grooming, trying to tack up, cleaning, sweeping etc generally whilst talking to my horse she and the rest of the yard think im mad but time is so precious and im the only one on the yard with a full time job so need to multi task to maximise time with my girly!! :D

Hehe!! Must admit, it makes my days at the yard rather long!!!! :D During the week, after a long day at work, we perhaps only have one brew!! lol! :o

I am happier at my current yard than any previous ones (I have moved around the country a fair bit, I'm not a serial yard mover!) and know my horse would agree.

It's not perfect; would love an indoor school to cope with the vagaries of the Scottish weather (we needed to use the outdoor as turnout during the worst of the ice age last winter) and the fencing is not classic post-and-rail but the people are so lovely and the hacking is amazing - you can go out for hours and never see a road :D

I'm on a small yard, only 5 other liveries, we are tidy, friendly and helpful, only grip I have is that I would love it to be closer to home, 25-35 mins depending on traffic..........Also would be lovely to have an indoor school, used to have one, never really appreciated it until it was knocked down....so new one would be nice, but have a nice large outdoor, so count myself lucky....

For them to hurry up and build the school!! Also for them to change their baler, all the straw and hay falls out if the string when you go to pick them up

I have just moved my horse into a new yard this weekend. The only problem I have encountered is one of the liveries!

Basically she wants the whole yard to herself (like she had a LONG time ago!)and hasn't spoken to anyone since the expansion of the yard and arrival of the first new livery (me!) Lol.. :p

:D Like it!

I'm slowly working my way to introducing that routine where I am, I'll be tea lady as I'm the only full livery :D

Our yard is lovely and 99% of the people are great... My biggest gripe is the lack of pasture management. We've got acres of fields, but the horses stay in the same one, not poo picked and not harrowed for months and months.

Also would be nice to have lights in the school, if I'm being really picky!

Here's my gripes:

1. Poor quality paddocks that have more weeds than grass.
2. Other liveries never clearing ragwort.
3. Regularly given very poor hay.
4. The most common failing is absolutely atrocious language from "ladies" often in front of children.
5. An inner clique that complain about pretty much everything but are the least compliant.
6. People who never pick up their horse's poo from the public areas
7. Repairs never happening or taking years.
8. So many broken lights in the indoor school that it's continuously twilight
9. An 80 x 80m arena but only 4 show jumps that are not broken.
10. The yard looking like a scrap metal merchants

Other than the above, everything is brilliant!!! - Guess you can tell they have a local monopoly!
