What does everyone think? about the team, the 8 individuals, and the 2 on the res. list...

The Team
Emily Galbraith, 19, and Crown Alliance
Ben Hobday, 19, and Uptons Who
Lauren Shannon, 20, and Quixotic
Georgie Spence, 18, and Cottage Craft Spirals, with Song For Gull as a direct reserve horse.

The 8 individuals
Charlotte Agnew, 19, and Little Beau
Charlotte Castle, 19, and The Cointreau Challenge
Dani Cuomo, 18, and Ballin Willow
Sophie Griffith-Jones, 20, and Seaboy
Flora Harris, 19, and Double Image II
Ginny Howe, 19, and Cavort
Nicola Malcolm, 19, and McFly
Nicola Wilson, 21, and Oingy Boingy.

The reserves are Tamsyn Hutchins (Opposition Springtime) and Elder Scouller (Pebbly White Stuff).

LMAO - Oingy Boingy is just a great name!

Looks like a strong team I'd say.. Georgie Spence must be wishing she could take 2 after she did so well at Gatcombe!

Agree with you MDM - it does not make for a very clear selection policy. Only thing I can think of is living with a YR trainer has its advantages.

The Horse has good previous form I am guessing that is what they have gone on. I still think its a stitch up though.

I agree- Tamsyn should certainly have got in above Flora. Found out how much she wants for her other YR horse (the one thats stops) lets just say is between 39k and 41k....

Gosh does she want that much for that horse? It's not worth anywhere near that. She came to see mine last year, talk about time wasters. tried to find things wrong with horse, lease it, knock price down etc. Horse went to USA in the end and they still haven't found one.

word on the street is that Tamsyn's horses didn't trot up sound at the trot up after the final trial... I think putting someone else on there is rather silly tho... I watched her test and lets just say it was VERY generously marked.

Its really funny how people who are really, really desperate for a team place, and are pal-ly with the selectors, quite often get their place even with average/below average results...
am I right or talking a load of bull?!

QR - I wouldn't want a selectors job, whatever they do someone will be left out! I think the team they have picked looks very strong, and I also think some of the individuals they have picked could be in the run for very good placings too. I think Little Beau is superbly consistent, and whilst the Cointreau Challenge's dressage will probably keep him out the top 10 his jumping's good. Good luck to all going.

I too am confused with the selection criteria and cannot understand why someone like Tamsyn who has such a wealth of team experience was not selected. Not only did she finish in the top ten, but produced two good performances from her horses. Strangely enough the more consistent horse Springwood Opposition who always produces double clears was dis-regarded in favour of Drama Queen III. Tamsyn and S O jumped clear xc despite losing a shoe at the 3rd fence. I understand that a number of people have questioned the selection, so we are not the only ones. Selecting a combination with Jumping Penalties, and a horse with a substitute rider confuses me.

Can't comment on the selections, but, I used to go to the same school as FH, she was in the year above me, and lets just say she wasn't the nicest peice of work, quite spoiled really!

This is really nasty about FH. Selection is difficult and form throughout the season is the main thing. One small mistake at one event should not cross somone off the list. She has consistently got better results than even some of the people in the team. Her trainer wasnt even there as she was in Switzerland with the juniors. Why the attack on her? Are you better qualified than the very experienced selectors?

Becker - you wouldnt happen to be Flora would you?!!!!

I wouldnt like to comment on some of those selected.... but its worth taking into account that performance in training is something the selectors take very much into account. However, it does seem that the Juniors could have fielded some stronger individuals - being selected with a stop at 2 star does seem bizaare.

On a different note, its exciting that most are only 19 and out of the 12 only Nicola Wilson will be out of YR next year. I except most of those will go to Bramham next year... shame really that this opportunity for 12 places isnt next year when they are more experienced and Collett is in YR!

XX

im a bit shocked that melissa and swan song didnt get in after a good run at bramham and not too bad at gatcombe!

But re selection it was a bit the same with the juniors someone wnet and they had only done one OIU21 and did do that great withdrew before XC at cheptow * and then went to ede and didnt do great but the horse has previous form at advanced so did she get picked because what the horse had done not what she could do with the horse??

I think the YR actual team is fab and they have one of the strongest teams ever but I just think the selection of the individuals does not seem very clear. I personally think its a little bit ridiculous if at the Final selection trial there are several others who have performed better.

Mind you I think the selection for rural riders beggers belief that someone whose horse pretty much NEVER gets a double clear is considered for the team.

Gosh...isnt everyone lovely.

Such nice things to say. Hope your all very happy and pleased at voiceing your opinions. good luck to everyone, hope they have a jolly nice time chasing their hopes and dreams, and when you have a little bit of luck I hope everyone is ever so sweet and happy for you.

I happen to know FH and she was totally devastated that Tamsyn didnt get a call up, what was she supposed to do, say no ta, ur alright i'll give the euros a miss?

love to u all
