There is a dead rat in my water bucket - I haven't moved it as didn't have time before work to battle with myself before work. You'd think we'd get used to these things over the years wouldn't you !

I might pay my boyfriend to go and shift it.

My skin is crawling

i just pick them up with a shavings fork, and throw them in an empty feed or haylage bag!! i dont mind them when they are dead, its when they are moving the freak the heck out of me!

I hate to say this but will it not swell being left in water and dead anyway, you could go back to it being double the size!!

yuck i was at a yard a few years back and i use to find rats in my water bucket every morning. the yo wouldn't put rat bait out they were everywhere. i soon moved yard, couldn't cope with that yuck

I've sent my fella up there now so I will never know thank the lord ! I think it might have been there a while as it looked pretty swollen as it was .

I once found a huge live one in my mare's manger, snacking away, and sod's law I didn't have a dog with me to set on it. I took a shovel to it! *shudder*

I used to find them in Merlins bucket all the time. I actually watched him push one in once. I had him from when he was 6 months old, he was my best pal., and when i was a stroppy teenager i used to spend all my time sitting in his stable hiding from my parents! one evening it was dead quiet he was munching his hay, i was sat in the corner reading. One jumped onto the edge of his bucket and was leaning in, drinking i think...Merlin nudged it in then stood watching it struggle!!!! He was such a gentle lovely boy but obviously REALLY hated rats! ha ha.
