Hi
I am renewing some internal fencing/track, I have a mains energiser and put in fence breaks just incase
Whats the best tape 20mm that gives a belt please? & suppliers
I have one conductor on the outer fence and wondering if I should put in another conductor on the internal fence
Thank you

Low ohm rated tape/rope has less electrical resistance and therefore gives a better zap than high ohm rated tape/rope. Low ohm tape is especially best for longer distances of fencing.
It costs a bit more but is very good at maintaining strength of zap all the way around.
The cheap tape and rope you see for sale everywhere generally is higher ohm stuff, so best to go to a dedicated electric fence supplier website, as they tend to stock the whole array of ohm qualities.

It varies, rope can have 3---6 or 9 conducting strands in it, tape can have 2---3---4---6---8--- or 10 conducting strands in it , the more strands the better the shock, take the time to go on Google for the best value for money suppliers.

I have found the worst 20mm green tape is Hotline doesn't last long. The best for giving you a belt, and I can personally advise that it does, :D:D is Mole Valley's own make.

I have a long boundary fence topped with Fieldguard 40mm tape, I put that in over 30 years ago and it still packs a wallop when connected up yo a Hotline unit. Not mains powered.
Their tape isn't cheap but it's v good stuff and outlasts everything else, IMHO.
I tried to replace some of mine recently and Fieldguard have gone out of business. I've now started replacing the internal paddock tape with good quality rope which has proved a lot cheaper and packs a very good punch used with two Gallagher solar energisers. I found that the tape was lovely when first installed but gets moved in the wind and then sags and breaks (admittedly after about 10 years).

In general Gallagher have good quality electric fencing supplies (I'm not associated with the company, it's just what they have at my local supplier and it is brilliant). They also do tape.

@PurBee has exactly explained. Voss had really good info but they stopped tradin to the UK after Brexit and you can't see the information. Not every manufactuer gives the technical details. The power of your energiser also affects the zap, the length of fence and the amount of vegetation on the fenceline.
