Does anyone else think that Zara does an amazing job on Toytown, and that if she manages to coax a winning test out of him again, it'll be some feat of horsemanship! Let alone a clear sj round, cos he's not the easiest.
I was speaking to someone who was at Gatcombe when she was warming him up for the dressage (when he was very very naughty!) and apparently Mark Phillipps was standing there repeatedly saying "Don't lose your temper with him..." cos he was being so exasperating.
Medal predictions, anyone? Hope GB can beat the Germans! For individual medals, i would LOVE to see Mary King get Gold, she so deserves it. She's wonderful for the sport and wonderful to her horses.

I just do not think GB will be strong enough in the dressage especially if the xc ends up being soft - though I think Pratoni has a reputation for not being easy!. Lets hope OT manages to stay on his horse on the xc.
As for Toytown more than capable and did a lovely test at Badminton.

Second your comment about Mary King kerilli, it would be a wonderful cap on a fantastic career. She deserves a really big win. I'm not sure Zara will be able to retain the title, but on his day Toytown is as good if not better than any horse out there so who knows?
lol about OT staying on, hope his confidence hasn't been too knocked after falling off twice at Burghley... Not the greatest confidence-giving warm up

saw OT in the dressage practice at Blenheim on friday evening. Flint Curtis didn't look as good as some of the others that evening so let's hope that he puts his best hoof forward in Italy.

Love to see Mary King get a medal.

I'm only going by photo's I've seen but is it only me that thinks OT's horses look far from happy in their work?

Sorry, should have started another thread, many apologies Kerrilli!

As to your opener, I'm routing for Zara but agree, it would be great if Mary could do something this time, she so deserves success.

oooh - yep - Daisy as well - like her

OT on the friday evening had FC head going side to side a bit more like a SJer than dressage - not large swings - but noticeable if you were watching and not really what is wanted for dressage

I also noticed that he had a habit on FC of taking a right rein contact (including right rein 2/3rd thru the left counter canter - good horse not to flying change/break) yet don't recall him doing that on the horses he was actually competing at Blenheim.

Pammy Hutton made a comment from Carl Hester about riding for 7s in all movements and what more do you want than 70% overall and in that context it almost seemed like OT was 'trying too hard' on the big occasion ?
