What a load of garbage.
Mind you, who reads the Daily Mail looking for serious comment on anything? Much less matters equestrian.
May as well look in the Beano.
Zara is terrific. What do they know!

had a look in the library at work...i agree, she doesnt look like she's crying TBH....

The DM is great as an in-fill in my composting bin...

I was so cross about it I replied too, but they didn't print it!
I suggested she was either checking her girths, or hugging her horse. As for the photo supposedly showing her crying.......what a load of b.ll...s. Just hope Toytown's on the mend, and we'll see him and his mum out very soon.

Yes but she may just have had grit in her eye, had hayfever, numerous reasons for rubbing your eyes than crying!
The Mail is a devil for misconstrueing pics, so I would take their interpretation with a pinch of salt....

You took the words right out of my mouth!

God some of those comments really annoyed me!
The one about her getting a real job etc...

She doesnt even look like shes crying, just got something in her eye

I don't see anything particularly bad about the article at all. Its not being unfair to Zara or slagging her off, and surely exposure of what's going on in eventing is a good thing? Obviously they're going to hype it up a bit to make a better story, but the slant is not a nasty one, its actually pretty sympathetic.

Everyone keeps talking about raising the profile of the sport - what is this if not it?

I certainly didn't see anything awful in the article, even if she was crying no-one would think any the less of her, its an emotional time. The Mail also did a really nice long interview with Mary King at the weekend, very good ambassador for the sport, with her clothes on so I'm not sure its fair to S@@g the paper off.

God I hate the Mail. I never particularly liked it and then in my first year at uni i did a module called Politics in the Media and learn't more about it and the facist background of the express. Come on this is the same newspaper who ran a headline "if your child emo" and labeled it as a satanic sucide cult! Citing my chemical romance lyrics, which even the interpendant ran a rebuttle to saying they chose lines showing them out of context and the next line is totally positive.

I especially hated the picture "zara trying to keep control in the water" she was perfectly in control and i particularly like the way shes opened her fingers to let the reins slip.

In the first pic she looks like she's scratching her nose, in the one where she's taking a drink from a bottle, it's "obviously" one of a sequence of shots taken rapidly one after the other in order to catch the moment where she's blinking, and use that

It's a common technique used to make celebs look "drunk" or "high" on a night out ...

I didn't see any reference in that article about her "crying" so I don't know where you get that from. As for being perfectly in control, if she was, she would not be minus her off side stirrup!

I don't think the article was unfair in the slightest, I bet she was disappointed in not being placed higher. I also agree with several others about raising the profile of eventing. If this was A. N. Other rider who hadn't got to the Olympics would there be a feature in the DM? I think not.

Being a Royal, she has to roll with the punches, which with her character is easy enough for her. She's a big girl and can handle herself very well indeed. I don't suppose she's got a problem with the article either.

As for the DM, I wouldn't use it for toilet paper but that report only lacked understanding of the horse world, not the person!

I didnt see it as that awful and I think its quite nice to show she is only human and that her mum looks after her!!

They do after all have to spice it up for those saddos who have no interest or know nothing about horseriding. (Yes believe it or not there are some out there).

I have just had a brainwave perhaps someone should invite the writer of the piece to have a day out with horses one of those easy chilled laid back days. Where you get up at 5 and drive for three hours get the lorry stuck get soaked doing dressage in a hurricane then skid cross country and showjumping then drive 3 hours home put the horse to bed make sure its warm and comfy drag yourself home empty lorry cleanb it out eat your dinner at 11 at night while sorting out your stuff and then get up at 6 to check your horsey.

On second thoughts maybe a week would be better but only if its cold and wet.
