hi sorry for the numpty question but does anyone know if the stallion zarlequin (aes) is still active and how i can find out any more info. or if any other stallions with zues breeding are available in the uk. thanks.
I have no idea, but hope you dont mind me asking, whats your interest in him? I have a horse out of a Zarlequin mare, do you know much about his offspring?
Top scoring foal was The Grange show jumping foal Cquins Revenge (AES) with a score of 9.24. A bay filly by Zarlequin (AES) out of Connorcourt's Revenge (AES) by Ramon (AES), she is owned and was bred by Rachael and Lesley Aitken to be their own competition horse. Mother and daughter team are absolutely thrilled with their success. We bred this filly for Rachael to compete. The sire, Zarlequin, is a retired Grade A showjumper, now 18 years old and a family pet, so he has proven himself which is an important thing to look for in a breeding programme
Remember him jumping some years ago now and he actually went Grade A when the old system was in place for grading jumping 1.05 and 1.10 opens. He was owned if I remember right by the owner of an equestrian centre in Cornwall (which has since been sold). Dont know whether he ever jumped abigger track, but cetainly I saw him for two seasons in the small opens and can remember him getting Grade A status during on winter.
He was ridden by a chap who is a course builder whos partner is Phillip ? who organises the equine events at Harpbury College if thats any help
The horse himself didnt strike me as athletice but may have been in his younger days. The Aitkins who own him now if he is still alive tried to compete him in small opens, but he was having non of it, with his new owner. I cannot image he covers outside mares as they live in a valley/wet area with little grazing.
Zarlequin is still very much alive, he has just produced for us a lovely colt foal out or or Burggraffe mare. He has a wonderful nature and passes it on to his youngstock. He also has sired some fantastic horses including champion BEF foal 2007 and winning advance eventer. for further info e-mail rachaelaitken@hotmail.com
Re info on Zarlequin, he did jump up to 1.40 in his younger days. He is available to cover mares and has proven youngstock by him, including advanced eventer. Owners do live in valley but have some where else for visiting mares.
thanks for the info guys. im looking for a youngster by him to buy as seem to be spendiing a long time trawling through ads and around the country pointlessly so i thought id try the breeding route with similar breeding to my old horse that was quirky but fab. pm me if anyone knows of anything. thanks
