real or photoshopped? it was on french news.
 
Someone tried to sell me this exact 'zorse' (or however it's called) can you believe! Not a con of 'Hustle' standards I'm afraid as I think it is the first pic on google if you search 'horse zebra cross' or something! Shame cos it's markings are lovely....
 
Not a good idea.....

The breeders are taking a wild animal (the zebra) and crossing it with a domestic one...

However, once trained, mustangs are just like regular horses, where zorses and zonkeys are still half zebra. Anyone expecting such a cross to behave like a domestic equine will be in for a bit of a surprise. Just cos they look cute doesnt mean that unscrubulous breeders should be allowed to create wild/domestic animal hybrids...

I dont agree with you Fiagai, why shouldn't hybrids be bred? Almost all domestic (farm) animals have been bred back to natural 'wild' stock to encourage vigor and hardiness. Have you seen what beautiful dogs were 'created' in Cecoslovacchia by crossing wolves with German Shepards? They are certainly not your every day 'tail wagging muts' but are highly intelligent and loyal partners who have retained their wolf character and need to be treated as such. I see nothing wrong in it as long as the breeding does not create monsters eg British Bulldogs and squashed faced company.

Because they are direct Wild animal crosses and not just one wild animal added for genetic vigour or other required breeding reasons.

Same thing with wolf and wild cat crosses - these animals carry a huge part of their wild relations fight or flight instincts. The same instincts that humans have spent eons breeding to change these traits to enable these animals to live happily in a domestic environment.

Expecting such crosses to be as fluffy and obliging as our domestic animals is trouble waiting to happen. Btw wolf-dog hybrid you must be licensed in the UK
 
Cute? Pretty? Am I getting the right links? It's bloomin' 'orrible. Why would you do that to perfectly acceptable animals in thier own right?
 
Morally, is it really any different to a mule? I doubt it would be fertile either. In SA zebras are farmed for their meat so its probably quite easy to get semen.
 
I would love a mule or a zonkey. I see very little problem with them being bred but it must be done responsibly and do not become a fashion accessory. I would love to put Fany to a donkey to get a mule but Elizabeth won't and Fany technically belongs to her.
