i have just purchased a second hand one looks pretty good seems a good idea of changing it around from a head collar to a bridle..
whats your views on them?
I use Zilco bridles for both my horses - love them! And makes tack cleaning very easy. Most endurance folk use Zilco or similar bridles as they're much better than leather for what we do.
Zilco bridles are great - so easy to clean and so convenient. I've had three. Brilliant for endurance, and for anyone who likes to colour-coordinate their tack!
Zilco are more well known for their racing tack. Most of the all-weather racehorses would be wearing a Zilco bridle - we've got ourselves a red one, a blue one, and a red/blue one. Dip them in water and they're clean.
Brilliant bridles - just perfect for hacking in nasty rainy muddy conditions - that is most of the time up here in the Highlands. I think they look pretty cool too, I have green and white with reins to match and they seem perfect with my hackamore. Just rinse under the tap when you get back from your ride. I wish they did saddles too.
I've got the combi bridle with matching breatplate and I love it! Use that for my myler combination bit and my leather bridle for my comfort snaffle, I judge which bit to use based on the behaviour coming in from the field!
My Zilco is 4 years old and quite heavily used (the behaviour is often lively!) and it looks good as new, the breatplate is also 4 years old, she always wears it and it doesn't have a mark on it, I chuck them in the water bucket whenever she's getting a bath and that's them clean...my leather brdiel on the other hand just get's left dirty
