Does this Godforsaken country, where the average lifespan for men is 34 and women is 39, have any OIL?????

or is this lack of OIL the reason why the Good Old U S of A, WITH poodlebritain, have NOT gone in with Troops?

this Country desperately needs help to fend off Mugabe and his Goons...After HE, (Mugabe) has clearly LOST this Election....

I thought we gave it back to them because they wanted it and they have beggared everything up because they haven't the mentality to rule things in a civilised manner.

Or maybe we haven't anyone to spare............

The country is self destructing - I know, I have family there. Mugabe should never have been allowed to get away with what he has. Might not be PC to say so, but Rhodesia was a prosperous and happy country. Zimbabwe could have been so different to some of the other african nations (as a republic not a colony) but one mans 'ideals' have driven it to this

It was taken back, by Ian Smith, at UDI, so no consitutional handover from UK governent.
But it was a productive farming country

Completely agree with what you're saying - he needs to be removed from power, and the country can't do that themselves.

Can't comment on the US troops, but I can say that the British Army are suffering some huge recruitment and retention issues. There are not enough troops for the operations they're currently deployed to, and the UK simply isn't in a position to get involved in another operation.

That said, perhaps they could send in a small SAS group...they'd have him out in a matter of hours

JM, most of Africa floats on a massive oil deposit. HOWEVER the reason nobody wants to go in and start extracting it is that it will make the African countries rich enough to become a major world power.

It matters not one jot whether oil wealth would improve living conditions for the people who live there....its all down to global politics.

Mugabes followers still refer to the British as colonists and we get blamed for just about everything that is said against his regime. If we even looked as though we might get involved in another so called liberation there would be one hell of a lot of trouble.

We are doing the right thing by leaving this well alone. And I cant believe Im saying that!

I just hope that Zim can actually turn it's luck around after mugabe's ripped it to shreds.

When will it end for that country...

If troops were sent in, surely Mugabe wouldn't stand a chance...his 'government' is just too weak to handle another push....and it might be all it takes to start to turn that country around...

ARGH hope the nightmare ends soon for everyone there.

I can only hope that once Mugabe breaks, his whole support will too. It's just absolutely beyond me how ANYONE can support this person, if you can even call him that.

the worse thing is the way that the south african leader just grovels to Mugabe and won't help

we talk about Blair being a poodle to Bush and this is the same...

Each polling station published the results as soon as they were counted, outside each station. There is absolute proof that Mugabe lost, but he only lost the Prime Ministerial election. He is still President.

South Africa is not actually allowed to do anything by the rest of the international community. If they did they would have a whole load of sanctions slapped back on them.

The worse thing about it is that the oppostion is just as corrupt as Mugabe, so you are just swapping one criminal for another. No one should believe that when the oppostion party gets into power that the life of the average Zim will improve. The new party will just have different ideas about the best way to exploit and steal even more money out of the country.

My husband was brought up in Zim, all his family have now had to leave, homes sold, lives turned upside down, yes it is a disgrace what RB is doing to the country Zim was an amazing place, now it has been brought to its knees by RB.

RB supporters chased out the white farmers slaughtering their animals & dogs
frown.gif
and they are now wondering why they have no crops & income... talk about cra**ing on your own doorstep

I agree, leave well alone I am afraid

at best, civil war, the idiots get chased out by their own people then "we" can go in & tidy up the mess!

LOL - it had been a long day JM07 - I was losing the ability to speak never mind use a keyboard, oops!.

RB - RoBert Mugabe - should of really been RM to of made any sense!

Well I think we all realise that Zimbabwe is ticking bomb.

I think the clock just speeded up with today's news of the armament shipment arriving from China (there's a suprise) via South Africa (who should know better!).

Poor people......

There is no way that we should intervene in Zimbabwe! We are engaged in too many conflicts the world over & it appears we go into a situation without a thought of planning an exit strategy before we go in.

The UN should be involved, not USA & GB, they seem to sit on the sidelines & do little until it is too late.

The Zimbabwe situation is not new, there was a similar situastion in Uganda with Idi Amin where he expelled all the asian population. They were the business men of the country & that country fell apart similarly to Zimbabwe with the 'veterans' taking over the farms, looting them & moving on leaving them to go to ruin.

Mugabe will stay in power by cheating. lying, schemeing, murdering & using the army & security forces to surpress anyone against him, as he has always done. Short of UN intervention or Mugabe's death I can see no change.

I agree entirely with TZ. Having experience of the past situation in Uganda theres no way could ever accept the UK becoming involved in Zim.

But there will be no change at all when Mugabe leaves - it will be exactly the same just different fingers in the pot, raping the once 'Bread Basket of Africa'

There is no such thing as democracy in Africa. All these countries operate "1 man, 1 vote, once." i.e. once someone has been elected in to office, they never give up power voluntarily.

Where there is voting, it is done on tribal lines and as has been seen in Kenya, a supposedly stable country, it only takes a minor political problem before inter-tribal genocide starts.

They may have the trappings of modern life, but socially they are only just out of the stone age. Less than 100 years ago, most of them still lived in the bush, hunted for food and had not invented the wheel.

Very funny - also explains why I had to train my husband in basic things such as a toilet, electricity and the microwave oven.
