Zimbabwe

I got the impression from reports at the time that they're land and exercises took priority. But as you say wouldn't thermal imaging by helicopter been good "live" practice. Poor poor horse

I just don't think they took it very seriously at all (Army & Security). I know there was a search by private helicopter some time later (not by Army), but surely thermal imagery could have been used in the same way as the police use it to chase criminals or search for missing persons.

The Army couldn't have looked that hard surely. I know that's not what they're there for, but it could have been a useful training exercise.

I feel for the owners, knowing that their horse suffered before he died. Hopefully his demise was quick.

Poor horsey, it would have frozen to death in that awful weather. The only reason they were exercising there was because of the weather conditions.
So sad. :(
